So, even though it says that they are made in Ireland in two places (overview and details), the box says they are made in Romania.
Also, the foam in the ear cups feels crunchy. It does not feel like the pads on the PC37X. Maybe it just needs to break in?
TUXrThis post has been noted. Does it say "Made in Romania" on the top headband by the cushion?
Mine is serial number 011763 and it says "Made in Ireland"
Sure thing. After ~5 hours there is a divot and mark left by my glasses. You can kinda see it in the pictures. Nothing like that happened on the PC37X after like 1000 hours.
They sound great though.
TUXrThe HD58X uses velour pads. The PC37X uses velvet. I do not know about the different foam density inside the pads.
What's the serial number of your pair?
TUXrSennheiser announced a year ago that they were moving some production from Ireland to Romania. Through this transition, we verified that the quality of the product has not changed. The machinery, tooling and QA processes being used in Romania is identical to what was previously used in Ireland. In addition, the drivers are still produced in Ireland, and the inbound suppliers (earpads, etc.) haven't changed. Final assembly and packaging is done in Romania, and thus it is the manufacturing point marked on the box. This transition is very much in effect, and some of our inventory is still from Ireland while some is from Romania. We are updating the product page to include Romania for the long-term. Rest assured, the quality of the headphones hasn’t changed.
Thanks!
TUXrWatch the Youtube video titled Sennheiser Factory Tour by Linus, whether it's Ireland or Romania or Hanover, I have faith that Sennheiser is meticulous with their product design and manufacturing, and will continue to be for as long as they stay relevant.
