PC37X worth every penny. Don't bother with the Drop / Koss GMR-54X-ISO Gaming Headset.
Sometimes you buy a budget product, like the Koss gaming headset also offered here because the performance difference and quality of construction between it and something twice its price doesn't justify the increase in price. Not the case with the Sennheiser PC37X. Don't be like me and pay $50 for the Koss set only to be completely underwhelmed and unsure if ya got a bad pair or they're actually that crappy. Start with the PC37X. You'll be pleased.
What i like most: The sound quality to me, an amateur offline gamer (yeah i don't do multiplayer games) is fantastic. Never had an open back set before, I totally understand the appeal now. The microphone quality is excellent and the mute switch built into the boom mic is fantastic (but wait -- you may be asking why I need a mic for offline gaming? because i play tabletop games cooperatively via zoom/skype/voice chat).
That said, there are a few things i'll gripe about. First, the cord is pretty nice except the sound of it rubbing on stuff like your shirt travels up through the cord and creates noise in your left ear. Not a big deal, but its enough to be noticed. The headband is a bit snug on my huge size 7 3/4 head, and pinch the earpieces on my glasses more than other headsets i have. Some discomfort after an hour or two, which is fixed by a 5 minute break. I suspect they will break in with wear. If not, i'll look to replace the earpads. That's all I can complain about.
Would recommend to a friend.
