Apanman I would go with Audeze EL-8 Open-Back Headphone. There my favored general purpose computer headset.

WgriffithsWhy are you recommending Audeze when he's asking about gaming headphones...

HualicopterI guess but that's what i run for gaming. I use to have one of Sennheiser gaming headsets and there probably the best in the gaming segment.

ApanmanI had Sennheisers previous PC model Headsets. They are truly the most realistic sounding out of all the gaming headsets. The mic is top notch also. I am also on this drop as I need a new headset. My logitech G933 Spectrum battery doesnt charge. Done with wireless garbage. Go for this. You wont be dissapointed and at this price. It is an absolute steal.

JMac44Same thing that happened to mine. A month out of warranty the battery stops charging would charge for about 5 sec and then just stop and their customer support wouldn't do anything and it was almost impossible to get a hold of them. I do miss the freedom wireless grants but the battery issue and the frequent disconnects  are just headaches that make the experience not worth it.

ZatarotPlus at this price for the reputation these have. It's a great deal. Plus it's analogue which is all you need. Good ol left and right. No need for 7.1 garbage. They are so clean and minimalistic. Love it

WgriffithsThere is no single gaming headset that can come even close to headphones like Audeze EL-8 in terms of soundstage. The level of detail you get on these will allow you to play FPS titles with eyes closed! If you take your gaming seriously, you have probably $500 or more in the GPU and $700 or so in the screen. It makes perfect sense to invest equal amount in the sound. If this Sennheiser gaming headset is your endgame, I feel sorry for you.

ForstikI wouldnt say its an endgame for me. I have other great headphones such as the Sennheiser 650, 6XX, 598SE. BeyerDynamic DT880s, Fostex TH-X00 Mahognany, AKG 702 65th and AKG 7XX. All which I can "game" on and feel comfortable. Sometimes it just nice to have a good pair of headphones with a mic attached for LANs or going over a buddies house. To recommend a $500+ Audeze EL-8 is a little out of place on this discussion if you ask me.
These are far better than any other "gaming" headset out there especially when the model they are doing the drop for (PC373D) MSRP for $300. This is a no brainer for somone who wants generally good audio and soundstage for casual caming. Nothing wrong with that at all. Still Better than those "gaming" brands RAZER, Logitech, Steel series, Astro etc.....
Some people just want a good, sounding headset and with all this marketing propaganda. at least Sennheiser is doing it right at a price that isnt gouging customers (with this drop).

JMac44I would rather not buy a dedicated "gaming headset". Even Sennheiser one that might look attractive. Especially not at times where products like Modmic or V-Moda Boom Mic are available. You can "make" your own headset far more superior to this.
Instead of waiting for the drop, I recommend doing a research on head-fi, check out the trading forums and get double the value for half the price. Under $100 you can get insane stuff like Philips SHP9500S, Superlux 668, Status OB-1, second-hand Beyerdynamics DT770 80 Ohm or Sennheiser 598 and more. Just don't buy Audio Technica ATH-M50x or M50. That's the worst headphones for gaming you can get. At least if you want to keep gaming fun.
I am personally gaming in Fostex X00s with ModMic 5.0 just for the fun factor. They don't have any soundstage, but the bass. Battlefield 1 don't get any more immersive than with these :)
