mnemook thank you
System32isBADAnother big difference, is the PC37X comes with an analog cable, terminated in two 3.5mm plugs, for game sound output and microphone input respectively. The PC373D comes with a cable ending in a digital USB dongle, which serves as an external sound card with Dolby Surround processing, a DAC, and an amplifier built-in. There is also some driver software for the PC373D.

SennheiserSo excluding the usb sound card the headphones are exactly the same or is there other built in technologies in the PC373D that allow the simulated 7.1 surround
System32isBADThe dongle in the PC373D is where the D for Digital in the name comes from. It contains a little computer (DSP), Digital to Analog converter (DAC), and amplifier. The DSP is what takes the 7.1 surround channels and processes a headphone mix that will portray the sonic difference between a sound that arrived to your ear from the front compared to a sound that arrived at your ear from behind. Once the sound reaches your two ears, you only need two transducers (and science) to create the effect of directional sound.
The PC37X is the PC373D, except in an all black colorway, and the "soundcard USB cable" replaced with an all-analog cable terminated in two 3.5mm plugs (We call it the UNP PC cable). This analog cable is available separately for the PC373D, and an ideal purchase choice if you intend to upgrade to the Sennheiser GSX 1000 external soundcard, which has upgraded technical specs of the DAC and Amp, and Sennheiser's in-house developed 7.1-to-binaural DSP.
