AverageOn their own, the PC37X provide stereo sound with drivers angled to more closely match the angle of your ears, which creates a more convincing sense of space and soundstage.
To get surround sound, add a DSP – a Digital Signal Processor. Some DSPs take surround positional information, and apply advanced models of what happens to a sound as it travels from a direction, to your two ears. We call this Binaural Processing. The best processing takes account for how the shape of a head and torso affect the sound too. This effect can be much more precise and accurate than having multiple headphone speaker drivers in each earcup, with less side effects.
Consider this: All games actually perform a sort of processing to make a typical stereo mix. The game’s audio engine takes the raw positional data of an enemy in front, a teammate shouting “HUT!” from behind, or a bird in the sky, and decides how it should be panned between the left or right channel. Mere volume % per channel is a limited amount of information, and not at all like our brains interpret all the information our two ears pick up in the natural world. 5.1 or 7.1 surround is better, but directions are still limited to 7 directions and a volume %. Binaural sound is channel-free and can be as accurate as real-life.
The PC373D comes with a USB dongle which bypasses a computer’s motherboard audio, and also provides Dolby Headphone surround processing, simulating up to a 7.1 home theater surround system. Sennheiser also makes our own GSX 1000 and GSX 1200 DSPs that act as external soundcards, and can take 7.1 surround and convert it to binaural sound. The GSX models are a great pairing with the PC37X here! Sennheiser is also developing products to record binaural sound; this will be our AMBEO line.

SennheiserWhat is the warranty for them? If they brake where to ship them? I live in EU.
