I couldn't find a comment easily for this specific situation. I apologize if it's already been addressed.
The stickied FAQ mentions the adapter for console, but what if I want to plug the headset right into my PS4 via USB on the front? Will this green + pink to USB adapter work with this headset?
EDIT: I found a comment below where someone used something like this, and it didn't work. However, it sounds like they were using it with a PC, and the adapter wasn't as popular or as high rated as this model.
REVIEW: There's plenty of comments here already about how excellent this headset is, so I won't even touch that (but it's true and I agree). I'm using these with my PS4 Pro. I didn't want to go through the controller, so I bought the UGREEN USB Audio Adapter described and linked below. 1. It works! 2. The Adapter is inexpensive and I don't think there's any issues with microphone levels too soft, or audio too quiet. It all seems perfect. 3. Comparing to the Sony Wireless Gold Headset, obviously you lose the convenience of wireless, and their lack of microphone boom, but the trade-off is much better, clearer audio output, and when you are chatting, you're much easier to hear and there's even less delay.
Overall, unless you're a super casual gamer and don't need quality, I would not choose the Golds over this headset.
The adapter is the "UGREEN USB Audio Adapter External Stereo Sound Card With 3.5mm Headphone And Microphone Jack For Windows, Mac, Linux, PC, Laptops, Desktops, PS4"

NoNeedForSpeedIs it possible to use the microphone connector thru the controller only (and get chat working), and use the audio cable thru a separate audio output (I have an optical to 3.5mm adapter i'll be using)?

muradyanhaWell, the first thing I think that needs to be noted is that the "jack" or connector on the controller is the 3.5mm which allows/includes both microphone AND audio. So, to ONLY use the microphone from this headset, into the controller, so your audio is coming out of another device, like speakers, or TV, is to get an adapter which takes the dual (microphone AND audio) 3.5mm jack, and splits it into two (usually green and pink) separate ports.
Then, you'd plug the microphone cable from the headset (this headset does already provide both cables separately, not a combined cable) into the pink side of the adapter going into the controller.
Finally, your console will probably default to thinking that both audio and microphone are plugged into the controller, so you'll have to use the console sound settings to specifically set the audio output to not be through the headset, but through your TV or speakers.
In other words, yes, with the right adapter I think you could do that, but since I'm not doing it, I can't know for sure.
Good luck! I hope this helped.

NoNeedForSpeedI bought a couple USB Audio Adapters to plug into my ps4, but still issues getting the mic to work. The mic does works when I plug it into the computer, or if I use the Y splitter and plug it into the ps4 controller.
When using the usb adapter, I get no response when talking. If you tap on the mic or talk real close, you get loud inconsistent feedback. Does anyone know if there is a specific usb adapter to get this headset to work? I'd really prefer to plug it in through USB rather than my ps4 controller.
Thanks.

xzeusIf you see in my original post above, I link to a product and provide a name. It appears to be available still, and has worked very well for me. It's affordable and works with PS4.

xzeusYeah that is strange. I'm using one of the front USB ports in the PS4, although I doubt that should matter.
Good luck though, I hope you're able to figure it out. The headset is great on the PS4. I've loved it.

xzeusIve tried 2 different syba adapters already. The mic quality is horrible, i dont know if i have a defective unit or if there is a certain type of adapter that works better. I see other people have it working fine, looks like its a headset issue. Ive considered boxing these away and picking up a set of Astros. The audio quality is fantastic for me, but the mic quality is unbearable.

muradyanhaAgreed. I just ordered a syba to test it out. Hopefully it’ll work, but we’ll see. I’ve heard the adapters are inconsistant sometimes and they don’t output enough juice for the mic. let me know if you happen to find a good adapter or if you do choose to go with the astros.

xzeusjust tested the syba and it works for me. however, it does sound like it has some consistent static noise in the background. not too sure whatsup with that. but i hear it with or without the adatper. might just be the mic itself.

xzeusI found one that works perfectly for me! "Speedlink Vigo usb soundcard" Bought it from my local Frys Electronics store along with 4 other syba adapters, and the speedlink one worked perfectly. Audio is clean and crisp and my squad is no longer constantly yelling "What?!?!" at me when im talking to them. Find this one and your setup is complete. Im glad i didnt have to abandon this headset, now I'm a happy camper.
