I need help! I have the sound blasterx g6 dac/amp connected to my xbox one s. I thought this headset would be perfect for this amp since the amp has the split headphone/mic input. I plugged both inputs and the mic isn’t working. Xbox shows “no headset/mic” on. How do I get this headset to work properly with an amp connected to an Xbox One S?

The G6 does not work with the Xbox directly. I have the g5 and the only way I found to work was using the Xbox companion app on my PC. You can hear game audio and party chat but not game chat. Also the optical out from the Xbox plugs into the optical line in of the G6 and then the G6 USB to your PC. Another alternative instead of the G6 is the Astro Mixamp Pro TR. This is what I'm currently using with any headphone/ headset.

Thanks for the info! I don’t have a PC so by using the Astro Mixamp, would i have to connect it to the Xbox controller or can i just plug it to the xbox to be able to use the mic?

With the mixamp pro tr ( Xbox version ) there is no need to plug anything into the controller as that is taken care of via USB connection to a port on the Xbox.

Great! Thanks for the reply, I think i might just get the mixamp for the xbox to get more volume out of the headset. Also to avoid connecting anything to the controller.

PS4 player here, but I also bought the Astro mix amp tr for my PlayStation. The sennheisers were meant for pc, the consoles don’t output enough power to fully utilize the headset. But let it be known, I had to plug my mixamp into a pc and change the mic setting to “stream” to get rid of the feedback my buddies were hearing. Other than that the Astro mixamp with the game one is a great combo, I could see that little detail turning people away though. I’m assuming this version would work the same as the gameone model of headset. To be sure maybe just check some forums for any setting changes to run everything smooth on Xbox.
