I don't want to rain on everyone's parade... but I would be remiss if I didn't speak up here. I own some SG2 high-end kitchen knives manufactured by Kai. And while they do hold an edge to infinity, they are also notoriously prone to chipping if cuts aren't kept very straight and level. Feel free to do your own web search on SG2 and chipping. It doesn't seem to be able to handle much, if any horizontal pressure at all. In this particular case case, that Rc 64 comes with its own steep tradeoffs. Personally, I would have much preferred to have seen S110V as the blade steel on these knives. Buyer beware!

PeruserWarning duly noted, thank you. However i did not purchase this Endura and the SG2 Delica to actually use on anything like a regular basis. They are strictly for collection/resell, and for my own personal interest in comparing the blade steel. And i imagine many others have similar motivations.
It might take a year or two, but I think these knives in unused or almost unused conditon will probably resell for 25 to 50% more than cost. There are some seriously devoted Spyderco fans out there, moreso than with any other brand, I think. Spyderco definitely attracts a lot of collectors: some try to buy every sprint run; others try to collect every version of a particular model, and Delicas and Enduras are among the more popular models collected, probably because they have many variations and are priced comparatively reasonably. I've even spoken to a couple true completionists who aspire to own every variation of every model ever made by Spyderco. Seemed a bit insane to me, but they got in on the ground floor, so to speak, back in the '70s when the then sharpener-maker Spyderco released their first knives, so I suppose when you dont have 20-30 years of catch-up, and are just prowling for a handful of models you missed the goal seems achievable.
As I said, I think +25% for resell within a year is a very reasonable expectation. But I also think it could, as time goes on, they might go up in value even more, because, firstly, they aren't being offered through the regulae authorized retailers; secondly, they are the only sprint run with the black/gold design, or the SG2 steel. Spyderco might use both again in the future but these will always be first, and that will make them more and more valuable as the years go on and numbers of mint condition models drop through loss, wear and tear of normal use...or chipped blades.
The trick for me will be to not use them. I hate buying knives I cant use.

HatuletohOf course in that case, the steel doesn't really matter at all except how the purchaser feels about it. Good point though. No pun intended.

PeruserAgree. Pretty sharp observations!
...pun intended.
That said, I can't not use a knife I own. I'll report back if my SG2 breaks on me.
