FlowshiIt's all about logistic. GMK not offering individual shipment and Massdrop, who order the set, don't have facility needed on EU, yet. And I don't think it have that much to do to carbon footprint, with or without Massdrop order those DHL planes and trucks will still move here and there, the only unique footprint is when they ship to a house from its local hub and at that point, the only difference is between ordering this or not.
I know the German order of GMK from Massdrop is always sounds ridiculous.

FlowshiIt comes down to the difference between manufacturers and distributors. Most manufacturers don't directly sell to anyone because it wouldn't be logistically feasible to maintain a department that deals with much more numerous shipments to different places. Distributors are vendors which purchase bulk goods and their goal is more along the lines of direct customer shipment. It may sound simple, but corporations of larger scale industries logistically don't have the output to deal with exponentially higher shipping concerns.

Flowshi"unnecessary" is a bad choice for a word, in my opinion. It absolutely is necessary, because GMK only ships their sets to one given location invariably (in this case, MD's warehouse). It definitely is wasteful, however, and I do agree there - it'd stop being necessary if GMK changed up their logistics but I find that unlikely.

But if I join the drop (and I will definitly), would it be possible that GMK send the caps directly to me (living in germany, and no that far away from GMK) instead of sending it to the US first and than back to Germany.
It's not about the money, I'm fine with paying transport and VAT, but it so super unneccesary to send it arround the globe and back just for ... well nothing. Especially if you consider it is send via plane, which does alot of pollution to the environment.
