I think I may have to sit this one out. The base kit seems to include too much, making the cost too high for me after all the add-ons I'd want to get.
Looks pretty standard for a GMK kit to me. What is included that seems out of the ordinary to you?
base kit is priced almost exactly like other GMK kits. What were you expecting from this GMK keyset?
It's not that the base kit is expensive; it's just that it has a lot of keys. I've never joined a GMK groupbuy, but, in some SP groupbuys, the numpad is separate as are some of the odd sized modifiers, which keeps the cost down for non-fullsize or non-standard layout buyers.
If I didn't want any add-ons, the price would be fine, but, with Cyrillic and Icon Mods, it's $270 (240 with price drops). That's just too high for me. Maybe if I were more into the set or if I hadn't spent so much on other stuff recently, it would be easier to pull the trigger.
With base, cyrillic, and icon mods you can potentially fill two boards if you have the right layouts.
$135/set isn't quite as bad.
This is the way GMK group buys are done because GMK MOQs are significantly higher than SP. Check the other GMK drops here and you'll see that they all have a similar base set.
If you want Cyrillic just buy Cyrillic, Icon and Spacebar...the cost is $160, $130 with price drops.
Thanks, I didn't know that about GMK's MOQ requirements.
I originally thought about just getting Cyrillic, Icon, and Spacebar, but then I'm left without F keys, print screen, scroll lock, and pause for a TKL. I guess it really just depends on what I'd want to put it on. Anyway, not bashing the set, just saying it might be too steep for me whether it's in line with other sets or not.
