KimmyTotal Purchased number is showing strong uptick, so I'd say there is decent (>50%) chance. I'm guessing lots of people on the sideline will jump in last minute. With great set at this price, regret for not joining is far greater than buyer's remorse. Sheer number of group buys are confusing people, but when things are said and done, pretty much everyone I know ended up adjusting their budget [up] for the new norm.

SuperdoedoeIMO "Asian GB" is misleading since AFAIK most Asian orders outside China just come here. We should call it Taobao GB or China GB. Just trying to avoid mis-representing demand for whole Asia.

OracleKevThe Asians are now the biggest economic power block on this planet.
When they decide to support something, it will always happen regardless of who is running the Group Buy.
Bless them for being here and making MD a far better place to get things from all over the world.

OracleKevActually, South East Asians will usually join the GB in Taobao. Due to China lax tax law. I have never been taxed for importing anything from China to Malaysia. And Massdrop, uses DHL for shipping, which for sure will results in 23% tax to be borne by buyers. Buy from Taobao GB if u are Asians. No tax.

khairolnizamWell, enjoy it while you can--such loophole will be closed soon or later. Without going into specifics (don't want to call countries by name), many countries buy direct without going through middleman. Some countries also have generous customs/VAT waiver amount, so no tax in most cases.

OracleKevIn case of my country, it's not a loophole. But really on how the seller declare the item categories to the customs.
Keycaps can be categorized in 2 ways. 1) computer keyboard accessories (no import tax) 2) plastic accessories (20% import tax)
Both categorization is legally correct.
As my country has no import tax for computer related items, if the seller described keycaps in the category (1), so no import tax imposed.
So far, 1) I bought keyboard from MD, no import tax. 2) I bought keycaps from MD, 20% import tax. 3) I bought keycaps from taobao GB, no import tax.
It's nobody fault really. It's just that taobao sellers have been main players in Asian market for a long time and they are good at keeping cost low.

khairolnizamThanks for explaining. Perhaps I misunderstood. It's fun to find out new things every day! If you are correct, then MD and/or DHL should change their practices. I suggest you follow up with MD since their wrong categorization is causing unnecessary tax to their buyers.

OracleKevMassDrop should denote on all packages, when we buy Key-caps. It has too be described on the delivery note, as being "Computer Keyboard Accessory".
That is what Key-caps are, so I'm surprised that MassDrop hasn't done that yet.
Simple to do and very legal under any circumstance here.
