Product Description
Based on knifemaker Tashi Bharucha’s overwhelmingly popular custom knife, the Church (which can only be found for upwards of six times the cost), the Massdrop x Tashi Bharucha Prism is a production version that’s just as striking and even more structurally sound. Thanks to a seamlessly connected two-piece titanium construction, the Prism is absent of backspacers or standoffs Read More

This is an awesome knife. I love the finger flick deployment, its silky smooth. Blade is perfectly centered and razor sharp. Detent is is just right. This knife has the fit and finish of a $500 knife. Amazing design, great materials, top notch manufacturing with a discount price. Best knife purchase of the year!

*UPDATE*
I love this knife so much I'm getting another one.

This is a great edc for light use/ food prep/fidget carry. Lightweight and great balance. Designed more for food prep imo as the ergos are great in holds similar to chef knives. The tall flat grind is excellent for slicing. The opening hole and detent are perfect for spydie flick, thumb flick, slow open with thumb.
For the cost, this is an absolute knockout. The opening/closing action is easy and perfectly smooth, though it has dried out a bit now (after probably more than 2000 fidget deployments) and I need to oil the pivot. Not a major issue. The only imperfection I found was a small but obvious machining mark at the base of the blade. It's visible when the blade is open. Other than that, the finish was flawless. The knife feels good in the hand, if a bit small for me, and the clip works well. The blade was not hair-shaving sharp exactly, but it was very close, and the edge was nicely ground. I like the steel so far as well. It's held up well to some use breaking down cardboard and other light to medium duty stuff. Pretty much everything about this knife was either excellent, or at least very good. If you're interested in it, go ahead and buy it. It's worth the money.
I waited as long as I could to write this review, I had several other midtech knives I wanted to get my hands on before I heaped praise upon this one. In short this knife is probably the best bang-for-my-buck blade I've ever purchased, the action is perfectly consistent and the dopamine rush you get from opening it with a finger flick only to have it perfectly glide to attention has yet to get old. Likewise on closing, the knife does what only my Kwaiback has been able to achieve which is fall perfectly under its own weight at a constant speed. If you're a fit and finish junkie this knife is a must. Only complaints are the pocket clip is a hotspot depending on grip angle, its not a huge deal and you adjust to it quickly. Other is perceived quality. I find myself more hesitant to carry this knife compared to some of my more expensive ones simply because of how nice it feels. I'll probably end up buying another just to combat this.
TL;DR: amazing knife that feels like a knife 2 or three times it's price point.
So why a 5-Star rating?
Well, the day after receiving a blue one (perfectly wonderful, in every way - design, materials, execution, and typical terrific Massdrop service), I decided to order a black one as well.
Not neccessarily my smartest purchasing decision ever, but very much a wise one - this is truly a superb knife!
Enjoy!
I wish the blue handled knife had a satin blade. I went with the grey and once I get consistent results home anodizing titanium I will anodize it blue myself.
Gunnersmate2I'm thinking about pulling the trigger on this one since the Para 3 exceeded my expectations and surpassed the ergonomics of the xm-18 3inch. How ergonomic IS THE TASHI PRISM? Like you I struggle getting the blue as I normally love a good stonewash finish and blue handle but something about that satin looks incredibly rich and really works with this knife. Have yet to see in person but which to choose?....The satin or the stonewash?
I really love this knife, my typical use for a pocket knife is at least 60% kitchen tasks. This knife is great with a pinch grip and the blade being below the handle means that you can really get the blade onto a cutting board. The sharp tip is great for cutting things open and he knife is awesome looking. The only things I’d wish for is a little thinner stock and m390 or even LC200n steel. The fact that this was on sale for a lot less than usual really makes this a useable piece of art.
I love this knife. Super easy to finger flick, closes so smoothly, perfect centering, the black blade coating is very tough and it's ultra sharp. I've had it for a few months now and I think I like it now even more than the day I got it. I have other knives in this price range but this one exceeds them by far. Canadians, expect to pay about another $80 on top of everything to get it to your door, that's if it makes it through border services.
I'm very happy with this knife. The ergonomics are great, love the blade shape, the cutouts don't bother me (I'm not a big fan of cut-outs on handles). I was wondering about the "two finger choil" but it works and my fingers fit fine with one or two in the choil. The blue finish is wonderful.
My only gripes are 1) The detent is a little stiff for a finger flick. I have to get it at the right angle. 2) The logo position. They could've aligned it to the flat top of the blade but it's just at some random angle. Just looks plain wrong.
But overall, a high quality knife for a good price.
