Frequently Asked Questions:
Q: How do you pronounce Jamón?
A: [χaˈmon] which is close to “Ha mon” .
Q: Is there any place I can check with a keyboard gallery featuring this keyset?A: Yes, check out: https://zambumon.com/jamon/galleryQ: How do I cover my keyboard?
In all cases, you’ll need to purchase a Core

Core + Spacebars: Uniqey C70, Cherry G80-1800, and Topre keyboards(using the 6.00U center stem spacebars, replacing stock stabs with Novatouch stabs)
Q: How do I order multiple kits?
A: Here is a guide on how to order multiple kits:
1. When you land in the payment area, you'll find this form:
search
2. You'll first need to select Core, and on the child deals, select any of the available ones or just live it blank by selecting the "No thanks" option. Please, check the “How do I cover my keyboard?” question or reply to this comment if you are unsure of which kits you have to order.
search
3. If you want to add another child deal, but not a second Core, select "No Thanks" under the Core kit option. Repeat this process as many times as you need for the rest of the kits.

Q: Why isn’t ISO a part of the Core kit?A: Historically, only a small fraction of people (between 4% and 8%*) are interested in purchasing ISO. This is because people a large part of the userbase is in countries where ANSI is their layout standard (US and Canada, China, Korea, and South East Asia).
By decoupling ISO from the Core kit we can noticeably reduce the number of unused keycaps that are made by GMK, and make Core more affordable.

Q: Do you have samples of GMK Jamón?
Yes, we finished color sampling two weeks ago!
Q: ABS!? No way I’m paying $[x] for ABS keycaps!
A: There are hundreds of examples of high-quality products made in ABS that people love, such as Lego or GMK keycaps.
These keycaps are not only thick, and have doubleshot legends (meaning that the legends will be sharp and will never fade) but have an excellent quality control, legend consistency and are the profile is fantastic for long typing sessions. This is why many choose GMK over any other manufacturer.
Q: Could you add [X] keycap to [Y] kit?
A: Unfortunately that’s not possible. GMK Jamón was open for suggestions from May 31st 2018 to January 6th 2019, during that 7 month period, when kits were locked and quoted by the manufacturer.
For future sets, like Nautilus Nightmares (https://zambumon.com/nautilus-nightmares/), if you wish to share your suggestions, do not forget to vote for your favorite kits (https://www.massdrop.com/vote/GMK-Nautilus-Nightmares) and voice your opinion on any of the discussion channels!

Q: Why is the shipping date June 20, 2019?
A: This is because GMK Jamón is custom made product, and the keycaps have yet to be made.
Once the pre-order period ends, Massdrop submits an order to the factory, which then schedules a production time for the set. After the production and sorting of all the keycaps is done, the keycaps are then sent to Massdrop’s warehouse in the US, and then shipped to each drop participant.
ZambumonDude, hands down the best set ever created by you and untouched by me for me is "The Amazing Chocolatier".
So thank you for that one set that will forever stay locked away on a keyboard I will never have the pleasure of using.
There are many artists making color sets etc, but you are my one and only favored artist in this regard.
I am a chocolate addict (bargain bin to imported) and that set speaks to me from the very depths of my soul.
Thank you for being you.
I like this colorway but honestly I am an artisan collector and not a set collector, I think everyone will be very happy with this if it fits their mood or styling.
Just wanted to say thanks man.
Zambumon“By decoupling ISO from the Core kit we can noticeably reduce the number of unused keycaps that are made by GMK, and make Core more affordable.”
Im honestly curious as to how much the price difference is by removing the ISO?
And wasted keys.. rofl. You should try being Nordic and have almost full sets to spare because of the way these set is setup.
ZambumonAnother fine piece of Work from you Zambumon.
This Colour-way is to die for, nice RED colours that will suit a variety of keyboards. Even though I am a forced Vegetarian, I hunger for this set more than you know.
Thank you for releasing another scrumptious key-set, without equal.
hthtYuktsi has shared the files for the acrylic version of the case and there are a couple interest checks for either its PCB or an acrylic case with PCB. So technically, it's possible to get one without breaking the bank.
hthtYou might want to check out these two Geekhack TGR Alice threads:
• Plate GB - 2/7 comment says it ends in about 1 week (~2/14)
• PCB IC
There are likely others.
Zambumon Hi there
I've joined the drop, but now I want to add a number pad kit to my order, How do I make this happen without paying the processing fee twice? do I need to cancel my current order and reorder?
It's great Massdrop has a page to answer this question! Could it also mention that PayPal can be an issue if Massdrop changes the price after the order has been placed? For example, when a kit reaches a price drop point.
Also, is there a similar page that answers common questions about can happen if a keycap kit doesn't reach MOQ?
ZambumonThat MOQ explanation is for one-option drops, not complicated multi-kit keycap drops. Sometimes Massdrop makes kits even if they are a bit short of MOQ, and if a kit in your order isn't made you are given the option of revising or canceling your order. (So place your order regardless, rather than canceling it and then regretting it when your kit is made anyway.)
dvorcolWhat Massdrop has been doing recently if a kit fails to hit MOQ is asking drop participants affected by this issue to review their order and asking them whether they'd like to cancel or proceed with their order without that kit.

dvorcolThere is no article on that because it's unique to keycap drops.
dvorcolAFAIK Massdrop has maintained that you will be able to revise your order if a kit misses MOQ, but there seems to be an unspoken likelihood that kits that are 'close enough' will be made and people will rush Black Friday style to buy the extras anyway.
Does the number sold (that determines price tiers) reflect the extras Massdrop buys in case things get lost or damaged?
Rayndalf"there seems to be an unspoken likelihood that kits that are 'close enough' will be made"This is my understanding as well. The GMK Carbon drop is a good example, see this post.
I doubt Massdrop includes their additional kit purchases in the final kit order numbers that determine kit prices, but it's anyone's guess.
REDD000The pricing of each kit depends on the ammount of orders placed for that particular kit. @ 500 means that at 500 units sold (or more) that's how the kit would cost
ZambumonJust wanted to ask why the prices are significantly higher compared to the previous releases. A base set of nautilus is more affordable than a core kit+numpad of jamon. :(
mousetrapExchange rates in favour of USD, and the fact that it sold well over 1000 base kits.
Here it's $100 at 500 units. With the numpad, it's comparable with almost all others previous base kits that retail on group buys. Just check for instance GMK Chocolatier, we had a base kit for $145
LWNYCNo. As these keycaps are made out of two different opaque plastics backlighting isn’t supported. However, since it uses thick ABS plastic, you can get an underglow effect like this one:
LWNYCI haven't used a CTRL myself, but I believe the keycaps are PBT. GMK keycaps don't feel like sandpaper, at all, in fact they end up polishing with heavy use, something I actually really like, as it shows how much people have used them over the years.
LWNYCYou're right that they're not rough like the CTRL, but they're not exactly smooth either. They have a very nice light texture to them, ever so slightly rougher than the surface of a previous generation Macbook (the satin finish "silver" body ones, if you're familiar).
ZambumonLOL! Forgot I was replying to the long thread :D Honestly, I like them all, but that WoB Viper (right?) is just stunning. Classy, simple, luxury-looking...it's envy inducing.
