DOIO Haptic Macro Pad With Haptic Feedback & Buzzer Mode
Received my MAX-20 yesterday, so far so good. Only criticism at the moment is that it's very tedious to program the keyboard through their app. I'm going to mess with the exported/imported layers which dumps to a standard .INI file format, and hopefully figure out how to speed things up for programming. I'm also going to contact MAX to see if they would be willing to publish their spec... would be cool to have that handy!
Sadly, no. I gave up trying to work on it and replaced it with one half of a Viterbi for now. I'm actually designing a new macropad similar to the MAX20 but it will have QMK support out of the box. It's interesting when the API for a product is so bad it forces one to do the unthinkable and design another one... heh heh heh.
Finally had time to put it together. I really like the looks of it. I put some extra Nautilus keycaps on it where I could. There are a few people asking if this works with macOS. The default keymapping works OOTB. I have used Karabiner Elements in the past, but that isn't mapping the keys for this like it has for my dasKeyboard.
Update: I was mistaken. Karabiner Elements works fine for mapping this keypad. User error.
Anyway, it looks really nice and I'm happy with it. It didn't take much time to put together either.
That's good to hear. I have the smaller Falcon-8 and did a similar thing when assembling, seems like it might be easier without the single colour diodes to solder on.
What are your plans for it since you're on MAC? Programme on windows or to keep it as is? Given it's wired and mechanical it might make a decent MAC gaming pad? Either way the default look really complements your other peripherals.
Cheers for the info : )
So if you buy it assembled with shipping cost, it's only a $10 difference than their website. Plus you have to wait over a month and a half for it to ship.
The word which caught my eyes was "significant" because when I do the math, counting in all the odds, the difference is not significant. Anyway, I understand what you wanted to say and generally agree with all that.
Wondering a few things, I'll probably email maxkeyboard since this isn't really a good deal and wait for a reply but I figured I'd ask here in case anyone knew or so that the answers can be made public when discovered.
1. Are the Macros and/or Settings stored on the device or on the user's profile in the attached PC, or in public storage on the user's PC?
2. Any additional settings have been added since the video? I am looking for the ability to re-assign a pre-recorded macro to a different key, and block-of-text features, similar to the operation of Logitech G devices.
3. Any plans or mods seen to add pop-out feet? I'd like to see this as a feature since the horizontal option is cool but it would suck to have permanent feet in case elevation or rotation adjustments were desired. Even a clip-on solution would be cool because of the modularity given the design, and would add little to the cost.
I used the L1 and L2 keys as a Next and Previous Layer button. For example on layer 1, the L1 key changes to layer 5 and the L2 key changes to L2.
On Layer 2, the L1 key goes back to Layer 1 and the L2 key goes forward to layer 3 and so on...
