did some research on McGinnis mid-techs. other models are priced around 700. Looks like each knife is hand "tuned" so the pivot should be just right and loctite and lube applied already. I guess the market will pay this much so there's not reason to explore the cost further.

lobsterGerry's mid-techs are a mirror image of his 100% in-house custom knives which go for $800 primary, and then $1500+ secondary to the collector. The point of a mid-tech is to produce a knife with the same feel as the customs by abbreviating one or more parts of the knife making process.
His mid-techs have handles made on the same process as his custom knives, the difference is the blades are machine ground. Everything else afterwards follows the same build as his 100% handmades.
It's a lot of money for most people, but at this price you're still getting something that punches above it's weight.
