Hey cool...opened my email for the first time in a couple of days and found a message saying my Mcusta Katana had shipped on 10/5; that would be two weeks early. Its projected delivery is...Saturday, 10/13?!?
I'm not really complaining as it's going out early, but dang--I live in a modern, accessible city. How does it take FedEx twice as long as USPS standard priority mail from roughly the same place would take? Is FedEx sending it by donkey caravan, or what?

How wrong I was to complain about a delivery on 10/13. Because now the projected delivery is 10/15, the following Monday. How does FedEx lose 48 hrs between PA and OH? How about on smaller future drpps we have the option of just the good ol' USPS. Never imagined THEY would be the fastest option, but get stuff to me from OH in three days and FL in five.

I can't tell if it's specifically Massdrop but all of their FedEx shipping lately has been absurdly slow.

Why isn't it possible to send it to Poland? There aren't any specific restrictions regarding knives being sent to Poland... How can I contact someone from Massdrop about this issue? Edit: I contacted Support, very curious if I get copy and paste answer.

So, $100 for VG10 and Aluminum... What makes them think the MSRP on those materials should be close to $200?

Well I am sure if you just want the material for cheaper then you could go to just about any hardware store and get it there. however you will prob have a hard time turning it into a knife. Your obviously not paying for just the material. Your paying for the labor to turn it into a blade, the anodizing process of the handle, the other matierials in the pivot and so on. Not quite accurate to complain about the price and material.

Tanto blade profile, let's call it a Katana! Whoever came up with that name should be fired. Isn't VG10 a little brittle for a folder?

Not at all; you did indeed phrase it as a question, and it's fundamentally the same question I was asking, really.
I got to extolling the virtues of Mcusta steel in my usual style of using ten words where three will do, and didnt make clear what I should have, this being Internet: I wasnt asking you had an example of weak VG10 as a way of calling BS on that claim (which, as you say, you didnt actually make). I apologize if it sounded that way. I was and am genuinely interested, because for as pervasive as is the idea of VG10 being a brittle blade steel, I have yet to find anyone who has actually had the problem...
...or anyone who has LEGITIMATELY had the problem, you could say. I've spoken with two people who said they had a VG10 blade break, but their stories were almost identical, and to paraphrase, basically went: "well...I probably shouldn't have been using the tip of the blade to try to loosen a rusted carriage bolt, but everybody says how great Spyderco knives are, so I just figured it would be ok to jam the tip of my Delica's blade into that rusty groove and hit it with a hammer again and again. Me: "Unbelievable." They: "I know, right? You'd think a knife that cost $75 would be tougher than to break just doing THAT."

Can the pocket clip on this be removed (easily - not destructively)? I'm left handed, and I hate right handed-only clips.

Thank you very much. From looking at pictures I was afraid that was the case. I'll look into the one you purchased. Is it a different model number?

Hmmmm.... I like the looks and blade profile on this one so much better than the other Mcusta I see dropped here all the time But the comments worry me..... And tip down carry only? :(
Looks to be a good price though... (compared to other retailers...still feels slightly in the high end for VG10 and aluminum, but not tooooo crazy maybe, if their VG is as good as people say)

I've had mine for a few weeks now. I actually haven't used it for my daily EDC like I was planning. Overall it's a nice knife but the finish was dinged in a couple of spots, the pivot screw looked a little chewed up, and the opening action is hard to get fully opened on 1 flick. I adjusted the pivot to loosen it but it puts the blade off centre and close to the edge. The blade is beautiful and super sharp but very thin. I worry that even simple tasks would scratch the crap out of it. I won't buy another one and I don't know if I would recommend it. For the money, Massdrop has better options.

Hi Jonas,
Thank you very much for touching base with me on this. This knife has been sitting in my case and everyti I see it, I'm disappointed. If I can return it for a refund or credit for other Massdrop products, I would really appreciate that. Please let me know what I need to do and say for the support ticket and I will get the process rolling.
Regards
Scott Wallace

got it today. i think these are refurbished knives, as mine had a small scratch on the blade. this isnt a problem at all if youre planning on actually using your knife, as it is fully functional with a perfect lock up, smooth action and good centering. if youre a collector however this might not be for you
