Not at all; you did indeed phrase it as a question, and it's fundamentally the same question I was asking, really.
I got to extolling the virtues of Mcusta steel in my usual style of using ten words where three will do, and didnt make clear what I should have, this being Internet: I wasnt asking you had an example of weak VG10 as a way of calling BS on that claim (which, as you say, you didnt actually make). I apologize if it sounded that way. I was and am genuinely interested, because for as pervasive as is the idea of VG10 being a brittle blade steel, I have yet to find anyone who has actually had the problem...
...or anyone who has LEGITIMATELY had the problem, you could say. I've spoken with two people who said they had a VG10 blade break, but their stories were almost identical, and to paraphrase, basically went: "well...I probably shouldn't have been using the tip of the blade to try to loosen a rusted carriage bolt, but everybody says how great Spyderco knives are, so I just figured it would be ok to jam the tip of my Delica's blade into that rusty groove and hit it with a hammer again and again.
They: "I know, right? You'd think a knife that cost $75 would be tougher than to break just doing THAT."
