These dice are really cool looking, and I've already joined this drop, but I was wondering if anyone knew or had a guess as to which "artificial gemstone(s)" they are made out of.
Thanks!

CobaltSheriI'm assuming some sort of...artificial amethyst? I dunno, but its purple... or maybe marble? The patterns on it look like something you'd see in marble or maybe limestone. Again, don't know, are marble or limestone considered gemstones?

I'd honestly avoid MDG dice until they begin engraving the legends.
I picked up a set of their Jasper dice and numbers were peeling off the D20 after a few months of once-a-week sessions, being rolled on a felt-lined table.

andrewdcatowait...what? I bought 6 sets of their dice, and they are inked(or painted on, if you prefer calling it that), and aside from a d10's ink being slightly...dotty(as in a few numbers were not completely filled in) they were excellent quality. How, exactly, would the numbers peel...?

Are the numbers on these just painted onto the surface of the dice? I'd be concerned with durability over time.
Also, the black numbers on purple look like visibility would be an issue.

umm...the dice I got are all painted...here's the link to the drop https://www.massdrop.com/buy/30231 Don't know if maybe it's just different lines of dice, but all the numbers in my 6 sets of dice were painted. Even so, the paint was inconsistent on one of the d10's, but I got 6 sets of dice and the rest were very good quality, so...I dunno.
Arker_1Yes, those are acrylic (plastic) dice with engraved, painted numbers. The "stone" dice that MDG sells are quite different. Namely the numbers are not engraved, so they use what are effectively stickers for the numbers.
So yes, they are a different line of dice with different attributes.
