Good dice, not as durable as I would have liked
I have three kinds of stone dice from MDG (big fan of the opalite and the aquamarine, 5 stars, would recommend). These dice are different from those in two ways:
  1. The letters are not engraved and CAN COME OFF. My d20 will become useless if this happens again.
  2. The stone is less durable. This might just be an obvious fact about catseye, but typical use caused two of the dice (d8, d6) to chip. The other two stone dice don't have this problem.
Short: MDG is super cool, just buy a different set of dice, engraved is worth it if you're buying stone dice.

They’re great
For cheap crystal dice they are pretty good. They are fragile as to be expected.

The material is quite lovely. Can really catch the light.

the inking is off centered, which is unattractive but not impactful to the task for which we use dice.

however the irregularity of shape is a big deal in that it will skew the results in ways in which it is hard to properly account. This face has a minor edge chip, which is not great but of much less concern than the drunken pentagons on the 12 sider.

And that is just one example. There are others. The 6 sider is distinctly rectangular. The 20 has big faces and small ones. The 8 and 10s too, but less notably. So these were done by hand, by people eyeballing it, and close was good enough. Judging by reviews, this isn’t an aberration. Cool because I doubt I would do better by hand. Not, because you can’t use them without first letting the group know your character, or a certain monster, are using skewed dice. Skewed how? You don’t know how, you just know that they won’t roll true. Might not matter, or it might. You don’t know. You might need to sell the “purty color” a little to gain approval from your gaming tribe. They may talk a little smack on your premium dice. Might not be the experience you were hoping for. If you eat that up, this is your jam. I suppose that’s enough gaming value to score two stars, doable with some imagination, bound to occasion some commentary, but not what I was looking for. Think I will stop with these. ;) EDIT: Pretty sure this isn't cat's-eye, natural or engineered. If you look at it side on, it looks passably like cat's eye:

By that I mean the vertical striations. But gemstone people are already frowning -- they know that the light shouldn't reflect like that from cat's-eye, it should be much more linear, due to the microstructure of the crystals. The brighter the light, the brighter the line, not fainter. The brightest thing in the picture above is the reflection of the microscope's light -- that shouldn't be the case. The below is a cabochon but gives you the idea of what cat's eye should look like under heavy light.

All kind of moot tho, once you see the 'cat's eye' end on:

I do not know what this is, but it's not cat's eye. Some synthetic. I'll just point out that that's considerably at odds with their advertisement. Also -- and this is kinda secondary, really, but I might as well make the point: you don't need to mark the 6 on a six sided die with a dot so people know it's not really a 9. We know you can't roll a six sided die and get a 9. Same thing with the eight siders -- there is no 9 on an eight sided die, so you don't gotta worry about people going 'And I doooo..... wait, do I do 6 points of damage? Or 9? SO CONFUSED'. Those are problems that solve themselves. All in all, I'm extremely glad I waited to get these, and take a closer look at them, before I pitched in on other MDG dice. I mean, I love dice. They were the gemstones of my youth. These sure looked great on the screen, but as is the case with so many things we buy these days, if you look closer it's a different story. and ain't that a damned shame.

Of 7 dice, only the d6, d4, and d8 were cut correctly. The d20 is very slightly uneven, while the d12 is brutally misshapen. Several sides on both d10 are either significantly too narrow or too wide, and make for very uneven dice. While they are pretty, these are absolutely atrocious to use if you care about your dice being remotely fair. Edit: I couldn't get pictures to work until editing. This, shown are the d20 inconsistency, one of the more egregious d12 sides (though because of the way these dice turn the light it can be hard to tell, I did get a ruler out and check) as well as a trace of two different d12 sides, detailing the issues.

They look good and are as described. After buying, I think I would have liked to pay less, as the paint on a few numbers has started to wear already. I would likely buy engraved dice in the future.

Your set may have poorly aligned numbers.

These look good, a bit more smooth/glassy than they look in the photos which was slightly disappointing but not a big deal. Weighting is nice and the numbering was all aligned properly. No issues with faces being misaligned or scratched either. Will update this review after I've had a chance to see how durable they are, but there don't seem to be any major imperfections so I'm hopeful. Edit June 2022: No durability complaints :)
