You never know when you’ll have to use a compass, but you certainly don’t want to be caught without one when the time arises. The compact CMP2 compass (an updated version of the CMP) from MecArmy is easy to forget about in a pocket or pack, but it can help you immensely in an emergency Read More
OK compass to use, wouldn't rely on it, more of a nice to have
I've been using this mainly as a travel companion, as it's nice to get some sort of bearing in large metropolises where it's easy to get turned around. Having said that, this thing gets thrown off a lot (even tried using it hiking in the mountains) and I don't rely on it to be pinpoint at all. Somehow, a screw was lost during my travels too so there goes the waterproof. Mitigating the rest of the screws being lost, while applying locktite, I noticed that the screws actually throw off the reading some, so I'd recommend the solid body compass from mecarmy instead.
Sounded great as an idea. Total joke as an execution. The compass itself is damn near useless and the chain provided is offensively tacky. I'll stick it on a backpack or something as a zipper pull but what a piece of shit.
Terrible, it can’t find north to save its self! Looked great but it does not show the same north twice. The dial spins and never stops in the same place. I have checked it with other compasses and it is way off. Sorry I spent the money. What good is a compass if it can’t show north?
Much smaller than anticipated. It is about the size of a US dime. With that said, casing is fantastically stout despite it’s physical size.
The internal compass component leaves me with mixed emotionals. It seems flimsy in comparison to the case but as long as it works, I guess it does as advertised. Feel shorted for those reasons but credit where credit is due, I bet it is nearly indestructible.
Looks good, and was a great idea. Possibly the cheapest plastic compass every made was placed in a nice titanium housing. Horrible compass. If it hade a decent compass, it wouldn’t be bad.
