Only slightly larger than your thumb, the GP6 titanium fidget spinner is super fun to play with and easy to take anywhere. Thanks to the hybrid bearing, which is a combination of steel and ceramic, it spins fast and smooth for up to 2 minutes with a good flick Read More
I purchased the MecArmy GP6 a few months ago. I knew that it didn’t have a huge spin time but for the price, I was expecting it to be a quality item. It wasn’t!
It looks good & that was the only positive. The advertised spin time was impossible to obtain or get anywhere near & that was only if the MecArmy GP6 would even spin. To say it it was temperamental would be putting it kindly.
I took it apart, re-assembled it & gave it another go. Now it wouldn’t spin. Tried it again then it would. The bearing wasn’t great & the overall design where the bearing housing is on a screw thread meant to hold the bearing in place was poorly made.
The bearing housing had two small holes either side. This may look neat & tidy but trying to tighten this was a right pain. I tried using a cocktail stick & then tiny precision screwdriver. You can only tighten this using one hole at a time. The whole contraption would have been improved greatly had MecArmy enclosed a tool that was U shaped so you could insert it into both ends at the same time & then try to turn.
I contacted MecArmy & their response was it must be a faulty bearing. They could send out a new one but it would take some time as they’ll post it from China & I was in the UK. The returns policy was only 14 days, I ended up returning the MecArmy GP6 to the retailer I’d bought it from. I had another one sent out in its place & I encountered exactly the same issues.
Yes this maybe a Fidget Spinner that’s got Titanium & an unusual shape & size but it’s not worth buying when the bearing & bearing housing mechanism is so poorly designed & made. I have no confidence in a new bearing ,asking any difference. It’s a bad design with numerous flaws. A spinner is intended to spin. When it can’t do this function, it’s a pointless purchase. Save your money & buy a better designed & functioning spinner. This Spinner isn’t worth your time or money!
It seems like it will have a very small moment of inertia, causing a poor spin time. The radius that the weight is away from the axis of rotation will affect the angular momentum as a square so don't you want to get the weight away from the axis?
I realize that all it does is spin, and that watching the way most people spin and stare at them causes me irrational anger, but something about this triggers the inner Gollum. I have a strange urge to hide with it in dark places and talk to it like its mine...my own...my precious.
Why do you all have to be so negative? If you don't want a product, there is no reason to look at or buy it. This happens every time a fidget spinner drops and it seems to be a waste of energy and time on your parts.
BlueCrownedIt's the joy of Social Media; you could easily buy these products (most anything MD sells) in a dark, back-ally brick and mortar store, where no one would know who you are or care about what you might be up to (sort of like shopping at Walmart at 5:30 AM on a Tuesday). Here, everyone sees you and makes judgements about the way you spend your time and money. Kind of makes you feel like you're part of something bigger than yourself, doesn't it?
I associate these products with fidgeting in general: kids that can't sit still, leg shaking teenagers, and chronic toe-tappers (and any number of other annoying tics). Most of which, people tend to outgrow as they reach adulthood. Problems is, these days, adulthood starts around thirty-four or so. Good for fidget spinner manufacturers, not so good for the human race.
