would you buy a 50 dollar screwdriver? no. because you can buy a 5 dollar screw driver with a lifetime warranty. would i buy a 100 dollar AA flashlight. no because I will loose it and regret not buying five for $20 each. to those of you that don't loose flashlights, i wonder how actively you actually use your torch, and how much is just compulsive consumerism.

_megapixel1) it is not an AA flashlight
2) your five crappy AA flashlights, all used at once, will probably not illuminate things as well as this will 2a) your five crappy AA flashlights will use up five times as many batteries as this will 2b) your five crappy AA flashlights have five times as many things that can go wrong, and will, because they are cheapo rubbish; this will further diminish the amount of light you get 2c) your five crappy AA flashlights require five hands, which I don't think you have
3) if you buy things that are not rubbish, you will value them and then you will look after them and remember where they are.
Personally, I am not rich enough to buy cheap shit

yiriYiri,
1) I appreciate your numbering system
2) you don't get out much do you? 2a) because you structure arguments like an outline for a book report 2b) and that's kind of annoying to normal people
3) you spend all that time creating your outline and you didn't even address the topic, which was how easy it is too lose a small "not AA" flashlight.
4) I don't think a twenty dollar flashlight is crappy, I think it's probably over priced, because I can buy 20 crappy AA flashlight for $20.
5) if you think low price unequivocally equals rubbish, then obviously you and I have a different value structure. 5a) I think it's rubbish to spend this much money on very basic tool. Gluttonous even, because... 5b) flashlights of this size have the same propensity to disappear as socks in the dryer, or as I would imagine.. 5c) your tinder date. See #2

_megapixelMuch much brighter and better made. I have 100 2 dollar led lights I give out if someone needs a light. They're nowhere near as useful as a $50 Fenix or Sunwayman and die all the time, enough so I'm hesitant to give them out any more even for free. I have a dozen or so expensive lights now (yes I have a problem), all of them still work flawlessly and most get quite a bit of use, and they put out enough light you can plan ahead, not just see your feet, when out at night.
OK, and a few are just ridiculous for fun.

awoodbyTo add to this: my father got delayed in the woods last fall. He thought all his flashlights were fine until then, the woods got sparse enough, that without being able to see any distance he was unable at all to tell where to go. He experienced the same in a mostly empty parking lot on a dark night, anywhere he shined it, it was dark. Where do you go? When it really counts, and you're not just trying to look under your desk or 2' away, you need a light with some distance.
