Since it is Bluetooth 4.0, will you not notice latency issues? My first thought is that the audio will lag the video, which would make me feel like I am watching a dubbed version of the movie.
RedbaaronYeah AptX sub codec selection could get weird, not sure if the devices would default to base AptX or AptX-LL or let you select the type. AptX is moving towards an all-in-one "Adaptive" codec which incorporates their AptX, HD, and LL feature set.
or you can buy a firestick and pair to it through Bluetooth using SBC. aptx LL is cool but what you are pairing must be compatible. if you have a media library you can also use kodi or vlc with firestick and fine tune the audio delay.
Needed this MONTHS ago!
Since then I had to buy a new 60" Bluetooth enabled TV, and another pair of Bose QC35s!
As such, MD has cost me hundreds of dollars!!!
Sad!
So unfair!!!
TumbleSteakI tried this exact setup. It works, but the latency for dialog on the ES100 (which doesn't support aptx ll) is quite noticeable, even with the buffering set very low. So it depends on how you'll be using it, and how sensitive you are to that sort of thing. In the end, I bought an MEE BTR to use with this thing and I find with that setup the latency is low enough that I don't notice it unless I really look for it.
TumbleSteakYes.
But, as a gamer, I prefer receivers or headphones (like my Momentum True Wireless, Gen1) that support aptX LL to get less than 40ms of latency. Typical SBC will usually have about a quarter of a second of latency, AAC and regular aptX is somewhere inbetween. If you’re just listening to audio (music and podcasts), then the Radsone shouldn’t be a problem at all.
If your Soundbase and Bluetooth headphones support the aptX Low Latency codec (aptX LL), then no. If there is just support for the baseline SBC codec every bluetooth has, maybe a little. If it supports any of the other codecs on the MEE Connect, latency might be low around 100-120 milliseconds, and your perception of lipsync issues would be down to how sensitive you are to it. That’s fairly low latency, btw, and most noticeable in rhythm games where you have to give an input in time to the beat and something happening on screen, for just talking and action it will seem really close and you probably can get used to it.
As someone who likes to watch music late at night or a little louder than my wife (I’m not listening LOUD, she just likes to listen really quiet), I’d say the ability to connect two Bluetooth devices and independently control volume on each is a feature that is worth it.
Oh! I just thought of another idea for you!
I don’t know if this app is also on the Android platform (it might be), but I have an app on my iPhone called “Tunity” that lets you hear cable/broadcast TV through your phone. Obviously the MEE Bluetooth transmitter will be more versatile with on-demand content like Netflix, Hulu, or movies, but if you’re ever watching TV or you’re at a sports bar or something, this app is really cool. You start the app and point your camera at the TV screen, the app watches the broadcast for a few seconds, analyzes what channel is on, taps into an internet feed and starts streaming the audio through your phone! You can then use headphones or whatever you have connected to the phone.
I don’t have cable, but I’ve used it at restaurants that have the news or some sports going on, and it works well, also letting you adjust the lipsync. Pretty cool!
Anyone have any experience with the headphones listed here? I'm looking at getting a replacement for my Dad who is currently using an old pair of Astro a50s (pads are looking rough and they don't make them for this version anymore). They don't have to sound amazing as he only uses them for TV and his hearing isn't the best.
schmick0Not exactly, but these look a lot like the MEElectronics (this company’s previous brand name) Air-Fi Matrix that I bought here on drop in 2014. If this headphone is at least as good as my Matrix, then it will be clearer than the Astro and have a longer battery life. If they updated it to add aptX Low Latency, all the better! The Astro A50 has unnaturally exaggerated (and distorted) bass, so a new headphone that’s not like that might take a little bit of time to get used to.
You can get a transceiver with aptx-hd from Amazon for about half this price. Or for the same price get two, one to transmit and one to receive and turn any pair of wired headphones into aptx-hd wireless cans to watch TV.
This will never make the list of good buys on Drop, then again most things lately here seem to have that problem.
