These are really good, especially given the price here. The only issue I have is that they don't fit in the included case with 3rd-party eartips, so I have to use the included eartips. The big ones work fine for my ears, so it's not a big deal (though I would prefer to use different eartips to get better noise isolation).
Note that these support AAC codec, so the sound quality is good as long as your phone supports AAC as well (all iPhone and many Android phones).
I got a set of these for my son for Xmas last year, and he liked them so much - I got 2 more sets for myself and my wife this most recent time around. You can't beat the Drop price on these for what you're getting. These are not the typical "Amazon $40 cheapy wireless buds" - these are very good quality and well made. The charger case will easily recharge the buds 3 or 4 times.
I haven't experienced the intermittent connectivity issues others have complained about - but, I don't use them as much as most probably do. My son uses his all day long, and he's said it does happen now and then. I will say that I have a $300+ set of over-the-ear BT headphones, as well as an expensive BT headset for video calls for work. Intermittent signal drop is an inherent BlueTooth problem - it happens on everything BT. The MEE X10 seem to me to do it no more than any other device.
As for those complaining about support - dunno what they're talking about. On my son's set from last December (which he beat the hell out of) - the case stopped charging. MEE immediately sent me out a new case no questions asked.
If I HAD to find one thing to pick on (which is indeed kinda annoying) - it's that (at least for me) the case will ONLY work with their supplied 1-foot USB-C charging cable. Oddly, NONE of the other 10 USB-C charging cables I have for other C devices (laptops, Switch, headphones, cell phone, etc.) will charge the X10 case. This seems super weird - but I've tried every other USB-C cable I have in the house, and ONLY the little crappy one supplied with the headphones will charge it. Not a huge deal I guess - DON'T LOSE IT.
i am an audiophile. These are not for critical listening. For everything else, they are my go-to phones. They are clear in the nid frequencies. Highs and lows are fine, clear and acceptable, but not extended. On balance for wireless convenience they are a great buy.
Set up is easy and connection is prompt and stable. They stay firmly in my ears.
I appreciate the convenience of wireless far more than I imagined. I start listening to something on my iPad and walk around ( out of the room) freely away from it without interruption. I am an impressed skeptic. :)
These are surprisingly good. For the price, they're great.
The sound is better than I expected (about what I'd expect from a $40 wired dynamic IEM - but your taste may vary).
I mostly just like having a pair in my pocket that I can quickly throw on to watch videos, listen to a podcast, or make a call (at least in a relatively quiet setting). I've even used them in the bathtub with no problems.
If you're in a noisy room, you can't use them to make calls.
If you use foam tips, they won't fit in the case. One of the included tips works for me, so I'm fine with that - again, it's not really audiophile quality. For me, they're actually quite comfortable, and I've never been worried they fall out.
I've had great success with them on a plane to block out some noise and listen to a podcast or music - wired IEMs are much less pleasant in such a constrained environment.
Battery life is OK - I actually ran out on a long flight recently, but like a stopped escalator, they still were somewhat useful (i.e., blocking out noise). They charge quickly from the case, so most days I never notice an issue with battery life.
Oh, and I like the blue. Just looks nice.
So far pretty pleased.
Let me start off by saying the sound is lovely, especially at this price point. Build quality of both the IEMs and case are also good. I won't elaborate on the sound or build quality any further, because my Bluetooth experience has been awful. Sound begins to intermittently cut in and out of the left side after about 20 minutes of use no matter what source device I pair them with. It's a major deal breaker for me. They also frequently unpair themselves, but it seems like that's only with my phone. If these Bluetooth issues could be fixed in a firmware update, I would gladly update my review.
Update: almost 2 weeks of radio silence from Mee. Their customer support is terrible.
Likes: looks OK and I don’t feel pretentious like I would with Apple’s phones. The material and feel of the parts seem solid.
Dislikes:
mine have never reached a full charge. Best ever was 60% (one time) and usually much lower. Just now, I paired them with my iPhone and they say 30%. They’ve been in the plugged in case for days. The case has all the lights full.
They don’t sound great, staticky? over-compressed? I don’t know but they are nothing compared to the super cheap Aukey EP-B40S headphones I have. Cheap, sound good, connected by a wire but still Bluetooth
I contacted support and they sent me a new case—I don’t think the case is the problem, but we’ll see. I have the new case plugged in with the phones in. Maybe they’ll charge to 100%. If they do and they start to sound better, I will update my review. Right now, I think the support staff at Mee are idiots.
If you have $40 burning a hole in your pocket, these are ok. Otherwise save the money
Price was $39.99. IMO, if you're curious about wireless pods, and have $40 just laying around. These could be decent starts. However, if you just want to dip your toes and see if you like Bluetooth, just get some cheaper pods and see how you like the convenience.
Build quality, it's cheap plastic and light. There's really not much else to say. I don't understand how some can say it's of good build quality. The moment you pick up the case, you get joy because it's got some heft to it. Pick up the pods and you'll immediately notice that they're made of cheap plastic; light, and hollow. Being hollow isn't bad, but for the size, you'd expect them to be heavier.
Update: The right bud no longer charges, I've only used these for roughly a month on my bike rides (1 hour rides, 2-3 times a week). Because the right one no longer charges, these are essentially unusable as the right one is used to pair to your devices, without it, it's useless.
Controls, they work, but are gimmicky. Double/triple clicking can be problematic, you can't click too fast otherwise it won't register.
Connection, definitely left wanting more. Sometimes they won't connect properly to the device or will connect and won't play any audio. It seems like the right one controls connectivity as the left won't pair if you leave the right one in the case. They both make a sound when they pair with the device AND when they turn on, independently. If you're listening to a song and midway take out the left and put it in your ear, you'll hear "POWERING ON" followed by a beep. The signal strength is shoddy. If you keep your phone in your pocket while using these, they're perfect. If you leave your phone on the table and walk around, you'll have some quality loss, or just complete loss of audio. I was changing the oil under my car, phone next to my car on a table not 2 feet away, and the audio dropped occasionally. Having two apps play audio also caused issues. Used while on a Discord call and also listening to Spotify and the audio quality was definitely degraded and clipped.
Update: It seems that these pods just don't like Discord. Used Discord with my phone through the pods, and the pods were awful. I'm talking clipped audio, dropped audio, and the pods would even disconnect from my phone despite my phone being in my pocket. Now I'm curious as to how this is in a phone call. Will update when I try these in a phone call.
Update 2: These pods will disconnect completely and stop playing audio from your device, despite your device stating that the pods are still connected. Even if you turn off Bluetooth and re-enable it, these devices won't reconnect properly and require some fiddling.
Update 3: Even when my phone is 2 feet away, if I turn my head, the audio quality and volume change. The connection is simply poor on these.
Audio quality, aside from the connection issues, not much to say. These block outside noise pretty effectively surprisingly. The audio quality is what you would expect from a $40 device. Pay anything more than $40, your wallet's definitely going to regret it. Haven't tested the mic myself (ie haven't heard the mic personally), but asked my friend how it was via Discord and said it was decent. Will update when/if I hear the mic for myself.
*Fit: they fit me just fine. Usually IEMs don't fit me very well, surprised and happy that these fit snugly and don't move around. However, take it with a grain of salt. Might fit me, doesn't mean it'll fit you. The fit didn't influence my rating due to it being somewhat subjective.
MickifreeAny idea how these compared to Dudio/Soundpeats and other chinese rebrand wireless iems? They sell for about half the price and sound alright - v-shaped but not fatiguing. Apparently they have dual dynamic drivers in them.
AnjanakrishnanThe only Chinese wireless ones I've tried are the real cheap ones. Can't speak for the ones you mentioned. If I had to describe these, they're relatively flat imo. If the ones you mentioned have a decent return policy, I would try those out before these. These seem to go on sale fairly frequently.
Let me preface this by saying I'm using a galaxy s9+. I don't usually use earbuds because they don't fit or get too hot for my ears but these are doing fine! I've had zero disconnections or oddities around the blue tooth, and the button controls on the buds work well.
Sound quality is better than I expected, I'm used to using a pair of Koss Portapros at my desk, and these sound about on par for me. The bass is punchy enough to feel it, although they'll need to be set in pretty snuggly.
They travel well too. I had no trouble with them moving around while I was cleaning the garage or while walking. The charging case is small enough to comfortably fit in a front pocket or anywhere in my backpack
As for connectivity, they pair with my phone the moment I remove the right one from the case. I can leave my phone on my desk and keep connection for around 30ft. I work in an office setting with 3/4 cubicles. My one wish here is that the left one would work independently from the right one, but the right one must be active for the left to work.
My biggest complaint is the seal of the tips in my ears. If I put them in just right the seal is actually too strong, and it feels like I have a sinus infection. That kind of closed, plugged up feeling. It's uncomfortable for long periods of time, but loosening them up is fine. Without that seal you don't get the same level of bass. I'm currently using the medium tips that were provided, but I should going to swap to the smalls and see if it's any better.
Overall these are pretty solid for the cost. Battery life hasn't been an issue as I'm not using them for long periods of time. They seem to charge quickly as well.
I'd recommend them if you're looking for a cheaper pair for casual use.
JESSICA117No clue! These are my first pair actually. I'm not a huge audio software or codec person like a lot of this website is, so I'm not too familiar with the tech behind them. When I'm buying headphones I usually just pay attention to how they look, manufacturer, and cost.
Left bud goes in and out, especially during my runs. This is not a problem with the right bud. The sound is good, and the price is right, so I can't complain too much, but it is a problem I would like fixed.
The sound was really good and i like them but the left earpiece doesn't work, and I don't know what to do about it. Even when i reset them to factory settings
