I got two units delivered today, a yellow and a pink one. I really didn't expect it to be that good. The workmanship on it seems meticulous. Easy configuration with VIA, but even without it, you get some media player functionality out of the box in both Mac and Windows. Something to note. The yellow is a very Rama Yolk-like color and it's a *matte* finish that looks amazing. The pink one is metallic, which also looks fantastic, but the matte definitely looks a bit better.
You could use it with 1u numpad keys like the numbers and operators, but you'd need a 1u Enter or some other key for that. Looking at the blowaway picture of the parts, there's no stabilizer holes for 2u keys on the PCB, nor any way to clip them to the plate.
Same story every time:
Prebuy for something cool comes out when I have no disposable cash.
When it gets general release and I have set aside the money, it is missing the options of the prebuy that I found most appealing.
Guys - what do you intend to use it for?
Honestly, this little gadget is super cool, but I am trying to come up with a use case before pulling the trigger on this one... ;-)
Someone on Discord got theirs (pink) and gave a quick review:
"It's honestly good, I haven't noticed anything qc-related, anodizing is very good, acrylic is flawless, fitting between the 2 is smooth, and the whole thing looks pretty solid, perhaps more than I was expecting. The one complaint I'd have isn't really one, it's that you need to press the big encoder right in the middle for it to click, but that's inevitable with big knobs. I'm not a fan of DSA but the matching colors look so good together I don't think I'm changing that".
So it's pictured with switches (Pic 7), but then they say you "can add whatever switches you choose." So does this come complete or do I need to add keys to this keyboard? (I trend I currently hate by the way)
Oh yeah I see that in the "Specs" section, but the written description does not. Sometimes Drop really drops the ball on product descriptions. Would love an official answer on this.
Especially when the product description mentions "sockets" but not actual switches. The full text I'm referring to:
"There are also 16 traditional hot-swappable mechanical switch SOCKETS for more classic macro functions that can be executed with whichever switches YOU CHOOSE to install." Emphasis added
This product comes with Gateron Yellow linear switches for your convience. You have the abillity to change them at your will because of the hot swap nature of it.
