In the underground city of Ember, the population has flourished for years under the glimmering light of the all-powerful generator. However, once the generator starts to fail, things become chaotic fast Read More
The colors are lovely in person is one thing that's for sure. The texture on it is really smooth which is something I tend to like. The legends are reminiscent of SA which are really pretty in my opinion.
The profile feels like a mix of Topre HiPro and SA, it does remind me more of Topre HiPro though. And it does seem a bit more scooped than Topre HiPro when comparing them side by side, but the edges on the top aren't as sharp compared to Topre HiPro. The scoop isn't as deep as MT3, but it is definitely one of the more scooped keycap profiles.
One thing to note is that the keycaps won't be as stable as Topre HiPro, due to the nature of Cherry MX switch's design. So if you really mind wobble, I might suggest using these on box switches or the likes if you plan on trying them out. Personally using NovelKey's Sherbet switches on my build with these, and I'm perfectly happy with the combination so far. But I'm also not very sensitive to wobble.
The only downside I pretty much see is the lack of a R3 Control for HHKB users and somewhat limited 65% support, but those aren't exactly at the fault of the profile itself.
Your fingertips are gonna be nestled in there like a dachshund in a blanket it's not supposed to be on.
I don't know why I was thinking the keys were supposed to be amber, because the images are obviously a mustard and the actual keys are very accurately represented in the images. I like them a lot either way. I also got the lamp set and it's a really snazzy addition.
Better than expected, very well made and perfect colours. The perfect SA set.
The profile is slightly better than other SA profile that I have in the collection. These caps are very well made and finished. They have a quality feel and a smooth but not shiny finish that I really like. The colours are perfect in my opinion, muted and non harsh but yet they feel retro and almost used.
The high profile means that any switch (I am using Tealios v1 in my CA66) will have more of a 'wobble'. It might be worth changing switches to something like INK's to give that additional stability but to be honest I find that they are perfectly fine even when typing at speed.
This set has turned out to be even better than I expected and they were also well parceled. Fantastic, they get the full 5 stars.
For sure. I have pandas on a POM plate in my CA66 currently but am going to find time to desolder and switch out to linears sometime in the near future. It's a bit too loud :)
I'm not one for gold, at all, but the colours of this keyset work really well together. I bought the Dawn version (so, light cream alphas) and they look lovely.
This is my first set of MG profile keycaps, but it won't be my last! Everything I like about tall, sculpted SA profile, with deeper dished tops and a different choice of overall front-to-back R1-R5+ sculpting. Really nice.
First off I love that this set comes in trays. Moreso the addition of Full-size, HHKB and Tsangan compatibility in the base set was excellent!
The caps are a little thinner overall when compared to Signature Plastics SA set BUT they are thicker on the outer wall which gives them a solid, light, airy feeling. The texture and cup makes these a dream to type on compared to SA as well.
MelGeek made a wonderful set and I'm looking forward to the Plastic/Off white set as well!
