Unfortunately it fails to mention the lack of RGB with any other version but black. Also is the black version just the older model? I was going to commit since this drop has the colors but the lack of clarity has me second guessing my decision.
PropsAndMayhemHej, yes RGB sits only in the black version. Working on communicating this with Massdrop.
Regarding your question - It is the newest version of Castor black.
AlerionThere is a few discussion threads, mainly on reddit. I think the biggest thing is compatibility with their newest software, the old version of the castor wasn't compatible with it. I think quality control was another change but hopefully @MionixTeam can comment as I am mostly pulling this out of memory.
PropsAndMayhem@Alerion I found where I got my information from, the last drop for the castor on MD which only had the black version, had this quote (I can link afterwards too)
Is this the 2015 version or the new version? by contacting Mionix I've been informed there are few differences between the two:
The differences on these are that they run on different software/firmware. The newer one have a newer firmware and software, right now they can not change the software on the old one but in the future they might have a solution for that!
The newer version has better key-binding support, lower click latency , max dpi of the native sensor dpi(5000) and is the one that will be supported for the future. The older one have a few more lightning options and higher max dpi of 10k (which is not native, just "double" 5000 DPI - useless)
https://www.massdrop.com/buy/mionix-castor-rgb-ergonomic-optical-gaming-mouse/talk/1815993?utm_source=linkshare&referer=JH7NMW Looks like the description was just copied straight from this drop hence the lack of clarity for the different models. I am wanting the RGB but the blue is neat.
PropsAndMayhemHey @Alerion as @PropsAndMayhem writes. Main changes are 1ms click latency and not manipulate the DPI since it doesn't add any value for the end user, hence the 5000 native DPI.
