The orange stripe kills it for me.

cbtlrit looks like a 3D printed semi-translucent glow plate, it probably would be easy enough to scan it and print another in clear or (matching) black. but still, when you're looking at spending $65 you might as well just buy a kit at that point unless you can't/don't solder.

XynidenI myself have no idea how to solder or do these things, but is there a guide that wuld show me how to do this exact thing somewhere? Because the orange stripe really SUCKS...like, holy crap, what idiot made this decision to throw off white builds everywhere sucks. I haven't soldered since I was a little kid playing in shop class having no idea what I was doing

DeadlyVortexIf you've already bought this-- you can just take the plate out and to a 3d scanner to get a reproduction made.
If you're looking into buying a kit to make your own number pad, the soldering work is not that hard. Most kits you can find will have a guide on assembly, and you're only soldering 4 kinds of things to a PCB- the single microcontroller(which should come with the usb adapter), switches and LEDs.
The switches and LEDs only have 2 prongs each, and you can buy things called "holtites" that slot into the holes on the PCB that make your board "hot-swappable"(AKA you don't have to solder the switches and LEDs, they'll plug into the holtites and work.
The only annoying thing will be the 4th item you have to solder- resistors for the LEDs. Some boards like the Fenix are really easy to see (https://unikeyboard.io/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/felix-mf-1.png) where you need to solder, others are not as good with the layout.

Edit: A really cheap kit, if you're interested in doing this yourself. It doesn't come with switches/keycaps/switch LEDs, so you'd have to get those yourself. https://goo.gl/PNnCgx

XynidenI did plan on purchasing this same board, partially for the syncing. I have no idea where one would look to find a 3d scanner to get reproductions - are those typically just at normal printing shops? Not even sure where/how to look... Also, thanks for the quick instruction on soldering. Sounds like something I could figure out eventually, but would take some time before I felt confident in. I already have one project on mah table (building my own desktop to go on my Jarvis3 frame), so I've got enough on my plate for the moment : )

DeadlyVortexSculpteo(an online 3d printing company) has a nice map of 3d scanners, maybe they have one listed near you? https://www.sculpteo.com/en/3d-scanners-map/

XynidenAh. That is cool, but none, none within 6 hours of where I live. Drats. I'm getting a 3D printer in a few days, maybe an outline already exists....?

DeadlyVortexIt probably wouldn't be too hard just to measure it and reproduce as best you can, especially since you'll have your own printer!

cbtlrRandom comment a few years ahead... I replaced it with a laser cut frosted acrylic... was pretty easy to open and just replace it.

ViXoZuDoAnd I was definitely wrong when I first looked at this! It was a routed orange acrylic mid that you replaced, wasn't it?
