I’d buy at $400, but as another member said you can find this on eBay for $499. If you wait for the 15% discount days, you can have it for $425.
edit: just realized this is ASP-C and not full frame. Doubt I’d buy it even at $400.
FiFiCam499 on adorama & bhphoto pretty much always.
adorama has an ebay store, and ebay runs a 15%-20% promo every other month... so you can get one for 425 from an authorized dealer. (last 15% promo was only yesterday!)
imo at 400 a piece, this drop would make a lot more sense for a lot more people.
Still on the fence for this one.
Basically I don't own a camera that this will fit, but have been considering a Fuji Xpro2.
Tried one out for a week and it is an amazing camera, but not thrilled with focus by wire.
This lens is only manual focus, which is great. But I'd still have to get my wallet to fit the camera.
while the mitakon is by far the most used lens on my fuji ecosystem, i do have two bodies and a full-frame too...
as a single lens it makes very little sense to buy the x-pro2 + mitakon, when you clearly state you're stretching the budget already.
your budget should allow you to acquire good knowledge of the system that you shoot in.
if you like a rangefinder, get the x-pro2. but make sure your budget allows for accessories (batteries!!) software and books (for beginners i highly recommend the Dan Bailey fujifilm book on amazon).
I'll be honest and say that I cannot recommend a manual lens as a first lens, especially in a new ecosystem and even more so for a beginner.
LQDForcefirst lens? Beginner?
This will be my 4th digital camera body in the last 6 years. I went from T2i to T6S to 6D. I've got a fair amount of Canon L series glass. But I am weary of the bulk of the Canon stuff. The Xpro2 is appealing as it's easier to tote around with you every day. And there is something about how that camera works that makes very cool images. Everything I take with my Canon is very flat in comparison. I've also been finding that Fuji's sensor and processing result in images which can put up with a lot more shadow recovery and other PP than the Canon stuff. Even the full frame.
I'm perfectly comfortable with manual lenses. I keep mine in MF mode most of the time, as AF is just not as fun!
At this point hoping the immanent XT-3 release will help to drive down prices on the Xpro2 used market. If a bunch of people dump theirs on the market to get Fuji's latest tech, I'll be happy with a lightly bruised copy.
amazing lens, the only 35mm i kept for my Fuji. had the 35mm 1.4 and 35 f2 and sold them both.
bokeh is dreamy, very sharp in the center, color rendition is good.
a true gem for any APS-C owner, this is a must have lens for portrait work!
international shipping is super cheap!! thumbs up
pricing could have been better though, can get it on ebay for $425 from Adorama (with the 15% promo)
I'm excited to start using this lens. Work created with it has been gorgeous. But can anyone comment on why it takes so long to ship? The lens has since been discounted to the same price with retailers for immediate dispatch (B&H for example).
I do not believe this is Canon EF mount. Rather Canon EF-M mount.
There is quite a difference in the distance from the mount to the focal plane between EF and EF-M.
That is why you can get an adapter from Canon to mount your EF lenses to your M series body and still focus to infinity.
