I had this lens for a few months before USPS lost it. It was a pretty interesting lens and does take some unique shallow depth of field images. It was quite heavy though, heavier than it looks. A few months after I purchased it, I found in some situations there was a strange circular pattern in the bokeh. I contacted Mitakon and they confirmed it was a defect. They asked me to ship the lens to Hong Kong with economy shipping, so I did. The package never arrived to Hong Kong. There's where my story with this lens ended :(

At least it's not the regular kind of onion ring introduced by aspherical elements, because this lens does not have aspherical elements. Not exactly sure what it is, but Mitakon/Zhongyi confirmed it's a defect.

No. It's fully manual and does not have electrical contact with the camera body.

Edit: This is a full frame lens. You can mount it on aps-c.

I've not but the unedited wording was rather confusing. I've edited my original comment.

I apologize as I did edit the wording and I can see where it may have caused this confusion. Thank you for your prompt reply and I will try and do the same from now on.

" Compatible with Sony E-mount full-frame mirrorless cameras, the lens has a 35mm-equivalent focal length of 75mm. " This is a very confusing sentence. Is this a full frame lens? It says full frame, but then says 35mm equivalent which implies it is a crop lens.

Sorry for the confusion Stregone but what we should have said was " When used on an APS-C camera, the lens has a 35mm-equivalent focal length of 75mm."

" Compatible with Sony E-mount full-frame mirrorless cameras, the lens has a 35mm-equivalent focal length of 75mm". How does this work? Don't FE lenses have a crop factor of 1 and not 2.2ish? That would mean that this lens crops worse than an MFT lens would.

Thanks for pointing that out and the description has been updated to explain that on APS-C sensors it will provide a 35mm-equivalent focal length of 75mm.

I have this lens, FYI: - it's very heavy for it's size: feels like a glass brick - wide open it's very soft and low contrast, but will still produce some very cool, unique images - the lens hood is garbage
