Perhaps both? People say GMK ABS are just as good as PBT, so just want to see how SA plastic compares to PBT or even GMK quality? If its high quality and feels good, I don't think people would mind between ABS and PBT.
HouseGMK only makes ABS. So when people praise GMK keycaps, they are praising ABS plastic.
When they say 'Quality' they are talking about the design, manufacturing process, quality control, etc. Not the plastic. The quality injection molded product that pops out of their machines.
SA is not a plastic.
The thing always brought up about ABS keycaps is that if you are an avid typist, the tops will wear smooth and shiny faster than PBT. This will eventually happen no matter what keycaps you buy. It just takes longer with PBT.
If you like the look of this set buy it. Signature Plastics does not make crap. They may not be GMK but they are a well established manufacturer that has been making keycaps for commercial and industrial use for a long time. They are also made in the USA and have good customer service, if that matters to you.
What should be of more concern is the DSA profile. It is flat. Some people don't like it for that reason. Some like it because it allows you to move keys to different rows and they don't look wrong with mismatch angles. On a set like this with so many novelty keys it makes sense.
manapuaThanks for the detailed explanation, I understand what SA is and the difference between ABS and PBT. JUST wanted the comparison between GMK and the sets that SA make. From research and your analysis, it seems like GMK and various PBT sets might be a bit better but not by much. I guess the only way to really find out is to buy and experiment. Ill buy the carbon set and give it a shot. Thank you for the kind input.
