is there any point in this being 67 layers if its all the same metal? It's purely aesthetic at that point no?

theMZAHonestly, it's probably a disservice if anything. It's more likely to delaminate if abused. This knife would be an excellent slicer and chopper but I don't think I'd use it for bone, unfolded billet steel would be preferable in that application.
That being said, it's quite pretty, the scales are G-10, the pins are stainless, the blade is still 61 rockwell VG-10. Checks off all the boxes of an EDC blade but for the kitchen!!! For 80 bucks I bet it's a very capable, beautiful piece of equipment. :)

fhoodsorry, just saw this. A bit late but I would generally agree with you.
I have heard of damascus knives delaminating if they hit a large bone or something.
Certainly if you're prepping vegetables etc. you'd never damage it.
