If anyone still has this keyboard and it isn't working properly, I've determined that the Ganss GS87 (not GK87) uses the same layout PCB.
The major difference is that the Ganss PCB doesn't have the USB port, but rather uses a 5 pin JST on board to connect a cable (a la Filco).
You can either try to fashion at workaround with various adapters or you can just route the cable through the hole (like the Tex TKL case does). I found a place on Taobao that sells just the PCB as well: https://world.taobao.com/item/541903584545.htm?fromSite=main&spm=a312a.7700824.w4002-13122630299.40.6f1cbbcebcawMc That store also sells the cable.
MKC has discontinued any aluminum keyboards. I had someone call them directly. They use this site to dump what was left in their inventory. If you have the wrong color or a broken keyboard, I doubt they will fix it. You are better off asking for a refund.
Well, I got my replacement board... and it has the exact same problems as the first one. Additionally, several of the keys are the wrong size. The caps lock key for example is smaller than the tab key and has significant clearance on either side. I'm just going to seek a refund.
I know the board issues are 100% the fault of GeeKey QC, but Massdrop support has really dropped the ball on this too.
I first contacted you guys about the QC problems the day the product arrived. I received one email from your rep (who also forgot to attach the "form" they spoke of a couple days after my initial ticket...then 5 days of silence.
I've had great experiences here in the past, but the combination of multiple shipping delays and weak support make this undoubtedly the worst MD experience I've ever had.
To those of you considering this, don't make the mistake some of us did! Read all the reviews about QC issues first!
Hey guys, we're seeing the reports of bad QC on this round and we're talking with the manufacturer about it. In the mean time please contact Support if you're having any issues so we can report all the issues. Thank you.
Well I finally got it... a lot of the keys don't work at all, backlight brightness is extremely low. Some of the letter keys send random scan codes. This keyboard is completely unusable. Going to contact the manufacturer... wish me luck. :(
i just got my THIRD geekey 87a and i'm loving it except... LEFT CONTROL DOES NOT WORK. every other key on the keyboard is just fine, but that's a really freaking important key! i'm going to be so unhappy if i have to return another one of these for a full refund. so far, MKC is batting zero out of three. know it's not your fault, massdrop, i'm just pretty unhappy right now.
moogooHey I already flagged your issue to our support team. They will help get you sorted.
But for future reference, you can always contact support in regards to specific transactions in the transactions tab under your profile.
Just got mine today as well...
"Enter" Stabilizers and RShift stabilizers were broken.
Keycaps fell off of about 9 switches
Not happy at all. Wish I had read through all of the comments before just now, quality control issues are apparent.
