ClaridIn case your nan is truly curious, she will lose RGB lighting because these switches have black lower housings. Also all pegs will need to be cut off.

Looks like Originative is desperate to dump their stock through Massdrop as fast as possible now that the Kailh box switches have completely destroyed their MOD switches in every way and lots of better looking modern classic key sets are being re-run for far less than Originative is trying to get away with.

It aged just fine. I have box switches on two of my boards and no problems with any keycaps except for some older artisans where the stem slots are too chunky to fit in the box.
ferretallicaI envy you. My box oranges have wrecked one Keyset and some gmk novelties.

What does "PCB mounted" mean? Can I use it on plate just as other switches?

The ones you'd be clipping are made of plastic, and the ones you don't touch are made of metal, so it's easy to tell.

You can also just use a pair of nail clippers. I've done that before in a pinch.

Kinda depressing for tactile... Only 2 bucks off and slow shipping is not even worth putting on the website. Massdrop you can do better.

Totally agree on that point. Lately, there were some other drops that I joined and people pointed out to the original product website which was almost the same price or even cheaper... so I was glad I knew that and cancelled the transaction in time, and went to buy on the product website instead. I also think that Massdrop failed many drops lately.

SolotovIt's the deals that they could cut. They also have to make some sort of profit for facilitating. That's the limit of any deal. It's questionable if it would be better not to pursue those drops, and I think varies from person to person. To me, $2 for something I was going to already get, while it isn't a great deal, is preferable to $0 from the manufacturer. And taking into account shipping from the smaller stores vs. shipping from a large drop, it can be a lot better for people not in the CONUS. Also the fact that some places, smaller stores just can't effectively ship to, and it's a big risk.

Hey Massdrop, when you do these alternative type switches you should consider offering a sample set too, then us noobs can get a feeling whether we may want such a drop the next time around.
Not a very good deal for tactile ones. After adding $12 the price is $57 which is only two dollars off the price on Originative

mynameisnotrick For CONUS, you're definitely right. 62.37 for me, vs 57.74 with shipping, so about $5 for a two week wait. But for our non-US members, it would probably be a better deal because of shipping.
ChuckDeeAh yea thats true.

Anybody who has had these, is the MOD M switch really any different than the MX clear? Where I have looked they have the same actuation force and nearly same bottom out. Because I'm thinking about the MOD L switches as I want something with a bigger bump than browns and less stiffness than clears, and I am wondering if that is the right idea.

" Lubricated on the slider side for smooth operation...".
Does this mean that the scratchiness is somewhat mitigated from these switches?

WanzerRX-79Yes. Because there's lubrication between the moving parts, it should feel smoother. I haven't personally used MOD switches, but they should also be somewhat quieter than their non-lubed counterparts.

WanzerRX-79Mod switches are smoother than cherry switches, but they still do have a slight scratchiness to them.
