To summarize what I know about Moleskine notebooks and there suitability for fountain pens: it depends on how you intend to use them. @dbishop, smudging is likely due to the ink not fully drying. Dry-rate can be influenced by the kind of pen, ink, paper and the relative humidity. One way around that might be to use a sheet of blotter paper.
Moleskine notebooks are great for certain purposes, are very popular and are widely available - I used them for years when I favored gel pens. Some of the reasons a fountain pen user may choose a different notebook include: paper "weight" (in general, the lower the gsm, the greater the likelihood for bleed through), the paper coating (other paper brands might use a more ink resistant coating on the paper), notebook size (Moleskines are not standard "A" sizes). A proper discussion of writing paper attributes, etc. would be prohibitively long here. If you're interested in learning more, there are many trustworthy resources to found on the inter-webs. In general, Moleskine notebook paper is less ink resistant (with the associated response to fountain pen ink) than the paper of the brands listed in the following paragraph.
Paper brands discussed and reviewed favorably within the online fountain pen communities include: Rhodia, Clairefontaine, Tomoe River and many others. Some of these brands are represented on Massdrop in a variety of drops.
