In 1944, Swiss engineer Hans Hilfiker designed what would go on to become the Official Swiss Railway Clock, which featured an easy-to-read dial with large white stick markers and a bright red seconds hand. About 40 years after the clock’s debut, Mondaine received official license from the Swiss Federal Railways to use this iconic design as a tribute to Swiss watchmaking tradition. The Evo Big Chronograph is an updated version of the more minimalist original, featuring a chronograph with a 30-minute subdial and a tenth-of-a-second subdial.

The Mondaine Evo Big Chronograph is made for legibility. It has chunky stick markers and polarizing colors to emphasize the time. Beneath the crystal, the markers reflect off the angular sides of the case, creating a 3D look. Pronounced lugs help highlight the polished case even more. It’s equipped with a 40-millimeter case made entirely from stainless steel and a mineral crystal to protect the dial. Included on the iconic dial is a partitioned date window at 12 o’clock. The watch is water resistant to 30 meters as well.
