The Official Swiss Railway Clock
In 1944, Hans Hilfiker, a Swiss Engineer, designed what would go on to become the “Official Swiss Railway Clock”. Inspired by legibility and accuracy, Mondaine gained official license from the Federal Swiss Railways, and introduced the company’s Classic collection about forty years later. The Retro Automatic watch showcases the easily recognizable Mondaine aesthetic.

Design Features
The 42 mm brushed stainless steel case features a Swiss ETA 2878 automatic movement and Mondaine’s clean, geometric dial in black. The dial is characterized by thick luminous block indices as well as a bold luminous handset. Included on the dial is a partitioned date window at the 3 o’clock position. The window displays both the numeral date as well as the day of the week, with German as the alternate language. The watch comes fitted with domed sapphire crystal on the front and as well as the display caseback. The Retro Automatic comes fitted leather straps that are structured to the natural curve of the case.
