Works as expected, but might be too small for larger phones
I used this with my Nokia Lumia 1520 and the phone felt oversized for this mount. Regardless, the mount held it pretty well.
Unfortunately, this kind of foot is only useable on a flat surface, which my car dashboard is not. Therefore I had to use it on my windscreen, but due to my country's regular hot weather, the heat is too much for the adhesive and eventually the mount was unable to stay on any longer. It does held on quite long though, to be fair.
Good stand if it happens to attach to your dashboard. The included adhesive plastic is useless as the adhesive fails on heat, and keeping your car in the parking lot during daylight is enough to soften the adhesive.
Finally the wireless charging heat up so much the cellphone pauses the charging every time. I modified the mount so I can attach it to the AC vent so the wireless charger can cool.
I won't say it is a bad product but I won't recommend it.
Terrible product. Holds the phone without a problem. But charges slowly when it decides to work. Usually stops charging because says it's too hot. Blue light on plug is too bright at night. the regular montar mount is better. Bought 2 of those already
Update after owning for three months: it's broken.
I was driving along today, and the tiny plastic hinge that the flipper pivots on (that controls the suction against the glass) snapped, sending my phone flying. After seeing how weak that pivot was, I'm actually amazed it's held up as long as it did; this seems like such a basic failure that I can't recommend this mount to anyone.
One other downside that someone else mentioned: charging shuts down when too much heat is applied, such as when the device is in full view of the sun. Unfortunately, that's all the time: the whole point is to attach it to the windshield, exactly where things are going to get pretty hot. If yours doesn't break, you should at least try to position it so that it's getting a bit of airflow over it (from the car's fans, or something else).
My original "just got it" review was:
Worked perfectly for me; the phone (a Samsung Galaxy S7 with a Diztronic case) detects the charger almost immediately upon resting it in the cradle, holds the phone firmly, and shows no sign of letting go of the windshield.
Only downside I can think of is that the cigarette lighter charger has a pair of blue LEDs that are just ridiculously overdone. I'm planning on tucking the wiring away and hard-wiring the charging cable, so it's less of an issue for me. If you're really worried about aesthetics, you might want to swap the charging cable with a more standard cigarette lighter USB charger and an ordinary USB cable.
works great, I'm actually using a CD tray mount I got with another holder, but this one works much better than that one.
This is not a problem with the mount, (just a note for others) but because of where I put it the sun can overheat my phone occasionally and the charging safety kicks in (read prevents it from charging) I usually point a cold vent at it and after a bit it gets charging again.
Works well for me without any issues. Charges my Samsung S8+ phone with uag monarach case when I place it in the dock. Using third party usb cord to route the cable into the charging port in my armrest console. Did notice it not charging once, but the issue was simply that car power adapter in the console was loose. Fixed once I replugged everything in and made sure connections secure. I do not have fast wired/wireless charging enabled on my phone intentionally. A wireless charging car mount is very convenient, especially on long drives when you are ussing google maps with GPS and playing music via Spotify and bluetooth streaming to your car speakers. I did rig up a small fan to sit in front of the wireless charger to prevent my phone from getting too hot. I made it with the Thermaltake Mobile Fan III portable desk fan placed in car phone mount with wide clamping arms.
I had high hopes for the mount, but ultimately, it did not work. As in, it really did not work.
The phone would not charge, the cord was to short, the base would not stick. All in all, a rip off. Strong words to be sure, but this product failed in everything that it was supposed to do.
If had not been on business travel so much, I'd have tried to return it. This piece of junk made me seriously question as to whether or not to trust MassDrop again.
