One of the Best Sub $1000 IEM on the Market.
I own many TOTL iem and headphone like ier z1r CA Andromeda, Focal Stellia and few custom iem. A8 is my first under $1000 iem (less than $500 on drop) that actually wow me. I’ve tried almost every hyped sub $1000 iem. they were good but always seriously lacking on one part of their signature. Moondrop a8 is the iem that does not lack anything. Warm bass that reaches super deep, gives you good rumble. silky smooth mid and endless extension without getting fatiguing. Pretty wide sound stage with accurate imaging and overall vert natural sounding iem. as long as you sre not comparing this with something like ier z1r (very similar tonality), there’s nothing I can say bad about it. infect I think A8 is on par with my CA Andromeda. highly highly recommended

Smoothness without losing details
  • Nice looking
  • Really pleasant listening for long period of time
  • Clarity, Image and Soundstage are on top
  • Confort, they look big and they are! but fit perfect on my ears.
Only complain is the cable, looks nice but I don't like the feeling, I'm using the Orion from Effect Audio decent cable for $70 I listen to different kind of music with them from jazz to extreme metal, they are really good!

It's really hard to fault at its price...
The price for this IEM even at MSRP is absolutely deceiving. This is an IEM that is capable of standing up against some of the biggest players above the $1000 price point. (As a side note I own the massdrop zeus, fitear tg334, hidition viento, shure 846 so I do have a lot of TOTL comparisons. ) Unlike many of the IEMs I own above the Moondrop A8 is an IEM that is not genre specific. It equally sounds great with any type of music so for someone that might only be able to keep one this is heavily recommended. While it does not excel in any particular genre or type of music it also doesn't sound strange either, unlike zeus (classical and orchestral monster befitting oc the gods) that just sounds awkward with more modern genres like pop (no impact) or metal (too bright), or fitear 334 where pop, EDM shines but brighter, more resolving music is lacking. In addition, the A8, while capable of producing details, isn't as punishing on poor sources. Even my old music collection (circa 2000) where we had 128kbps mp3 with poor recordings it still manages to sound acceptable. It is also fairly easily driven evne by your phone (albeit lower volumes if no dedicated Amp.) While the IEM is a bit on the bulky side most people won't be bothered thanks to its pseudo-custom shape. It contours most ears comfortably and holds stable in the ear (I'm looking at you zeus.) the IEM itself is also gorgeous being fully resin cast so there's no chance of your drivers inside falling loose. Did I mention how gorgeous it looks?

Of course nothing is perfect, the biggest complaint is the tip end. It's 6mm tip (same as zeus) makes a bit tricky to find proper tips. I currently use comply tips with it (T500) and first time getting them on is tricky but once they're on they won't come off, but because the tips don't have an edge to them you may find certain times just might slip off. Second this isn't as much of a complaint as it is a personal preference but the 2 pin connector isn't recessed. This subjects it to higher chance of cable damage. And finally the included cable just looks and feels cheap (not that this is ever an issue for me because I didn't even open mine, I use 4.4mm balanced on all my IEMs but for people using with their phones it's something to take note of. Final words and thoughts: high resolution, clear vocals, good bass/texture (still can't beat a DD bass and texture ofc, but still enough quantity except the absolute bass-heads.) excellent IEM for any new to the party or looking for a affordable TOTL-like IEM that isn't genre specific.

SmasheratThanks for your review. I was a Westone user for like a decade, just recently ventured into these newer brands. I've just purchased the Tin P1 but they don't seem to place properly or stay secure in the ear canal. Wondering if the Moondrop IEMS you've purchased have better fit.

FabianaUsed to own a westone w30 for the longest time! everyone’s ear shape is different so what might work for me might not work for you. I will say for my ears, it fits quite snug and even though it’s universal fit, the acrylic designed shell gives me the impression and feel of a custom fit IEM. They are quite comfortable and I can use them for hours. One thing to note: they are quite bulky (cramming 8 drivers inside) but it doesn’t affect the fit...it’s just a matter of aesthetics and whether u like the IEM protruding out of your ears.

Great IEMS
These punch way above their price in sound signature and weight. Heavily Recommended.

My second best
This is a great pair earbuds. It would be my top set if not for another I got here. It is paired with a my second best DAP and used when I go outside of the house. It would be a costly loss if stolen or if I had a brain-fart and left them somewhere. Only becasue I have better do I risk them outside of the house. I cannot find a thing wrong with them. I just prefer the K10 over it. I thought it was missing after a person cleaned the house. I was really ticked. Fortunately I found I had placed it in a different case, with a "Thank God" when I found them.
