The Kanas Pro are an excellent IEM. Subdued and controlled treble, absolutely gorgeous and lush mids, where female vocals shine and make vocals aren’t too far behind, and very mature bass. Balanced sound. Very detailed. Resolution and timbre are a 7/10, so not their strong suit. The timbre and resolution on the Tin Audio T3 and Sennheiser IE800 are better, but for a relaxing, detailed, and wide soundstage listen, the Kanas Pro is hard to beat.

IEMagnetI agree that resolution is mediocre with the factory cable -- I had a balanced cable lying around. For the first time, it does something with an IEM! It cleaned up the low end and improved detail all around. I've tried this balanced cable on several BA IEMs with no useful or noticeable value. Following my experience with headphones, balanced cables have the greatest and most use on dynamic drivers.

IEMagnetCould you please elaborate on these vs IE800? I do have Sennheisers but am wondering about buying Kanas as a kind of "backup" headphones. Could you compare them? TIA!

IEMagnetIf resolution isn't so good and there are models with better one, then how are these hard to be beat for detailed listening?

lasharelatbh, I sold my unit. Changing out the stock cable increased the resolution, but compromised the seal at the connector point, so the driver casings started slipping off. I sold my pair and got the amazing Sennheiser IE40 Pro with better resolution, better timbre, equal the stage, and less meaty and faster bass. I’m satisfied with my decision.

IEMagnetGood luck! I received toneking nine tail yesterday and hadn't time to test thoroughly, but already learned three things about them: with stock filters they sound just terrible, they deliver fantastic full bass/subbass impact without distortion (I'm amazed!!!!!) and with red filters they're probably the best IEMs I've ever heard (not many, really :). I've left them connected to the PC for burn in and they are missing me or someone to sing something in ear...

lasharelaThanks anyway :) Just got my pair of KXXS so I'll be able to compare them (and P1 once it will be shipped) with IE800 directly ;)

K4syxWOW! I've been wondering how P1 compares with KXXS recently. These two IEMs are of my particular interest because of their moderate price. I want to buy one of them this fall. I can't afford to buy both to compare myself so I rely on other's reviews. Please, share your opinion later. You could help me decide.

lasharelaNo problem, but I need to get my hands on P1. Drop had just ended a few days ago, but the expected shipping date is at the end of this month :( Last evening I was listening to KXXS, as tonight it will cross 100h burn in time. I really enjoy it: there's a lot of detail, soundstage is really wide and it is very smooth and musical. Bass is rumbling low, but without midbass bleed, and highs are crisp and clear though not sibilant. I don't have Kanas Pro to make a comparison, but I really like KXXS and I need and will do detailed comparison with my IE800 (way more expensive, but also older).

K4syxWatch out for the muddy KXXS bass that the KPE does not have. Nonetheless I got these secondhand for 105USD and this is my first real IEM. In terms of my home territory being open back headphones the soundstage is decent, highs are slightly subdued but has its peak where there is just enough sparkle in the music. KPE has nozzle grip issues of the sort. Waiting to order foam tips and spinfits. Tin P1 coming halfway through July. Can't wait to hear from you soon!

lasharelaThe Crescent has become my daily driver for running around. The IE800 and IE40 Pro for home listens, and I’m still being wowed by the UE TF10’s. Old school marvelous.

rawrusStill I'm not sure which one is better and Toneking Nine Tail doesn't seem to me as bass rich as previously. It must have been a couple of tracks I listened to right after unpacking. My old Z5000 has much better bass power than toneking and toneking has more than T3. On the other hand z5000 has quite noticeable distortion at high levels in base and mid regions. Nine Tail and especially T3 must be eq'ed to mitigate bass depression. T3 are very oddly tuned but It wasn't a surprise as I had read and watched dozens of reviews about it. unfortunately now I can't measure distortions with equipment but purely subjectively I guess that T3 must be best from all above mentioned. The argument is that I feel comfortable when listening to T3s at much higher loudness (not volume) than the two others. All that always stops me from cranking up loudness to the max available is distorted sound. I might be wrong in this case because some odd peaks in the frequency response may be irritating my ears, even though I used equalizer, these 3 are so different that with all my trying I couldn't achieve similar response. BTW I didn't use equalizer with z5000 which may be far from perfect, but I'm accustomed to its signature. Of course my observations would be more systematic, if I had my reference library, like other reviewers, but I have not much time to dedicate myself to it. Forgot to mention that nine tails are very uncomfortable. Their gear-like tails are scratching my ears in most positions. Once you found the most tolerable position, you can wear them for an hour or two, but still with odd sensation in your ears.

IEMagnetHi IEMagnet. Thanks for your reply. I just finished typing and noticed it. So is your final thought that pro was better than kxxs? Can I ask you why are you listening to IEMs at home? Do you prefer them over cans in terms of quality or are there other reasons? As for me, I prefer circumaural cans to any kind of iems both in musical and practical points of view.
