Like a starfield, but "better"
Basically these sound very similar to a star field to me with a slight bump in the low end. I'm not going to use fancy audiophile chef words for you, but I have been looking for "this" sound since getting into nice headphones. I started with Tin t2 pro, then found the fiio f9 pro, which was a massive leap in the right direction for me. but I've always been looking for the same signature up top with a slight bump in the low end. Not bass head bump but just something to the more versatile to feel the largest number of genres possible and not exclude myself from listening to certain types of music. Then somebody recommended to me the KZ zs10 pro. Getting warmer with that one! (Warmer not in the audio sense). Then finally I tried the starfield and was like "yes this is it!" But again I found myself longing for just a little bit punch down low. I think that this pair definitely executes that nicely for me right now and I will be listening to these for quite a while to come. Until I can afford the money to enter into the next tier of iems and headphones. These are fantastic. Also the included cable is a very very nice quality touch too.

GuitarmageddonHey just wanted to recommend another FiiO option as I also had the f9P & Ive chased a similar sound/am a guitar nerd. The FiiO FH1 (1DD+1BA) under $100, ugly, plastic & yet I just kept going back to them.... They are my main set now. 100% repspect your take on "Audiop***e words"...Seen enough pretension in my 20yrs of playing guitars but this gear takes the cake So without the adjectives a pastry chef would use for a croissant I'll simply say they just have great balance for any genre & to me at least, perfect bass response....... They're very similar to the F9P case & I think share the same DD so I've been assuming half plastic/half brass shell produces a warmer bass vs the steel F9P They're now discontinued & replaced by the newer FH1S which I've tried briefly & do like, But its a bigger diameter DD so I'd have to assume more bass. That said theres still plenty of left over stock & usually onsite .....and with all that apologies if this wastes your time & really sorry if you buy some & hate them ;/

moondrop starfield
you know the moondrop starfield? basically the same with a tad bit more bass if you don't know what are the starfields you are missing out (I personally own both starfield and kxxx) the moondrop starfield is an incredible iem for the price its a slightly mid forward iem with great mids satisfying treble and a pretty weak bass it does have some but its the iems weak link the kxxx improves the bass and in my opinion if bass is not important to you you should buy the starfield because its 40 bucks less but really if you have 200 bucks or less the obvious choices are moondrop aria-80 dollars moondrop starfield- 110 dollars blon bl03- 30 dollars moondrop kxxx- 155 dollars tin hifi t2- 35 dollars

First IEMs. So far so good.
Coming from headphones such as the HD600s and the Hifiman HE400s, my preferred sound is open and neutral, however, I did want to try out an IEM for once. Baited by the cover art, I decided to try out the KXXX. A bit of research revealed that the KXXX is very similar to the KXXS from the same company so I used those reviews to determine my purchase. The presentation of the product is wonderful. The box art is appealing and inside contains a carrying box, a microfiber pouch, 6 extra filters with tweezers, plenty of extra earbuds (2 sizes seems like), a very nice cable, the monitors and some extra papers (postcard, instructions and warranty). I mostly avoided earbuds up until now because I didn't like inserting things into my ear canal. If I ever used an earbud it would be the flat style earphone similar to the ones the 2nd gen iPod touches came with. But in terms of comfort, it seems like either I've grown or the KXXX is extremely comfortable. I used the small sets of earbuds and found no issues with fit nor comfort. The first impressions of the sound is without the manufacturer's recommendation of 100 hours of burn in. I fully expected the V shaped response based on my research on the KXXS, but I did not anticipate liking it so much. The response seems to be like (if mid was my reference point at 0 and the numbers are arbitrary units of measurements): Sub +3. Bass +4. Lowmid +2. Mid 0. Highmid+2. Treble +3. Hightreble +1. Air 0. Keep in mind that my neutral comes from openback headphones so anything with sub is gonna blow me away (and they definitely did). The signature sounded great across most pop songs, especially ones with a higher male or female vocal; the boosted treble really brings them out. Trance and techno sound pretty good. Some ambient music with soft pads and piano didn't sound too bad either. I was pretty blown away at how great some electro music sounded though (electro funk playlist from funkypanda in particular). I'd say if you mostly listen to pop and electronic music, the KXXX is a good bet. It did not do certain genres and instruments justice. I found most orchestra and strings a bit artificial to listen to, though songs featuring woodwinds and brass weren't too bad. Solo performances with a guitar and piano weren't terrible either but you could still hear the V. For some songs and genres, the sound signature bloated up the kicks and made it a bit unpleasant. Some rock and metal songs sounded odd because of the crunched up guitars and muddied double kicks. In fact, anything with an acoustic kick sounded a bit odd, but its probably just me not used to strong subs. Something that surprised me was that the sound stage wasn't as closed as I thought it would be. There wasn't a shock or anything when I transitioned. I also experienced some distortion while listening, but it was noted in the manual that it would go away after the burn in. The sound kinda reminded me of my old ATH M50 but more pleasant. For those who are familiar with DAWs, the KXXX sounds like if I were using the HE400s to mix a track and then threw FL Studio's soundgoodizer at 80%wet on the master bus (a multiband compressor limiter). I might have listed some strong negatives but I'm honestly really enjoying these new IEMS. I usually listen to classical, orchestral and jazz so it's great to experiment with new genres with a new approach. I'm sure that I'll grow to love it more as I get used to the sound. I think this was a great purchase and would definitely recommend if it becomes available again (the KXXS will probably be similar though if this the KXXX is still out)!

Very Nice IEM's
These are probably my 22nd or 23rd pair of IEM's. I don't know, I stopped counting a while back. Overall, I am quite please with them. They came nicely packaged with a great presentation and plenty of accessories. The IEM's themselves are very appealing in my opinion, the paint is very well done, and they feel like a quality product with a satisfying weight to them (although they aren't too heavy). My initial listening impressions are positive. Overall, I don't find any aspect of the sound signature to be offensive in any way. The bass tuning is ideal for my taste, they have plenty of sub bass when they need to, but little to no mid bass bloat. The mids are smooth and well presented although female vocals are occasionally a little bit shouty. The highs are just slightly rolled off to my ear, but still, well tuned with no sibilance that I can hear. I would say that these IEM's have a nicely balanced sound signature all in all. They certainly have a more "laid back" sound and I find them pleasing to listen to. Solid IEM's, especially for the price.

Very nice sound, go for the Starfield unless you need the KXXX's style/accessories
I sold my Starfield knowing the the KXXX is an XXS with a coat of paint (and the XXS is basically just a Starfield with better accessories. Style wise, they're sexy as hell, the case is nice and barely pocketable, and the cable is the best that Moondrop makes (this is not a high bar to clear, Moondrop cables are pretty terrible). Sound wise, they're great and easy to recommend, with the caveat that they can be a bit too intense in treble focused music. At the end of the day, if price is your first consideration, buy the Starfield. If you want the case and love the subtler blacked-out paint, go for these. If you have a few more dollars to spend, spring for the Blessing 2, which are better in every way (but still come with a nasty case and cable). Drop x Moondrop Blessing 2 when?

otganonNow that the Aria has been released, go for that instead of the Starfield, KXXX, etc. I don't have both but people seem to think they're very close. I have a pair of Aria and they're my favourite IEM (for now, of course, you never know what's next.)
wcg66Value wise Aria is better however I find the weight of the Aria to be a problem for longer sessions

Unfortunately, I live in Japan. If you want to send the cable to the United States, you can buy it at amazon.co.jp or use the international transfer service. Fantastic IEMs with a caveat
My first impressions of these IEMs are fantastic, with an asterisk. As far as packaging is concerned, the item arrived very well packaged with expected variety in ear tips for ideal seal. The included black, coiled headphone cable also met my high expectations (based on previous reviews). However, the sound is really where these IEMs shine. The bass freakin slaps. As far as IEMs go my experience is limited, but I have extensively listened to the TinT2s, BLON03s, and Etymotic ER4XRs. These are on par with the ER4XR in terms of bass. The mids and highs are clear although not as realistic as the ER4XRs imo. They generally have a warmer sound signature and (to me) sound more enjoyable with extensively less brain tickling, better headphone cable, and lower cost than the ER4XRs. The majority of my music listening is done with my HD6xx through an O2 dac/amp, but now the KXXX IEMs are taking up much of my time especially with the portability I can achieve with the fiio btr5. I listen to a wide variety of music genres, but definitely heavily concentrated in EDM which is probably why these IEMs are so enjoyable for me. They really are great. That being said, the material/paint used to achieve the finish on the IEM casing is subpar. Don't get me wrong, they arrived looking fantastic in a matte black (more IEMs really need to look like this). However, whatever paint they used to achieve that color is piss poor in quality. Within 2 week I had chips on both corners of the IEMs revealing the silver casing underneath. Really disappointed in this as I love the color scheme and overall look. The sound, wire, eartips, packaging....everything was fantastic for the price. The poor quality of the casing finish is just heartbreaking. That being said, I would still highly recommend these. Too many pros for one con. I guess just be more gentle with the little babies than I was.

Impressed but not blown-away.
It was a choice between these or Moondrop Starfields... i don't think i made a poor choice but these would be a hard sell at full price. Thankfully i had some rewards banked and bought on these on sale as closing the gap to $100 i think is the best approach. Lets talk sound, these are great in the lows and competent in the mids but the highs are what feel like the biggest let down. This is after a few days of burn-in mind you and the highs i found to be a bit much. These have detail but can come off as shrill/sibilant depending on the source. Which, given that they are IEMs, i would like to use these more on the go but any source i brought with me didn't really add/fix much. Only on a desktop source did i finally get a sense of what these are capable of and even then i found myself thinking "Hmp, these aren't half bad...🤷🏻‍♂". Build, look, and feel is superb. The included cable is especially above average feeling but not premium tier. I know where the price tag finds legs to stand on because it's all in the materials and finish. That is the only area where these IEMs had me impressed, so much so that i caught myself inspecting every minimalist detail and loving it. Maybe wait for the DROP Starfields...?

Love the KXXX
I love the looks first of all. The matte black is beautiful. Soundwise, the bass is full and strong, the mids are delicious and the highs are sweet. A great upgrade over the Moondrop Starfields.
