To keep rust at bay I use a small piece of flannel soaked in food grade mineral oil kept in a ziploc snack bag. Wipe it at the end of the day and forget about it. Induced a cool patina by leaving it stuck in an onion for a few days, though usually I soak my knives in vinegar overnight. If you even slightly care for it the worries about rust are greatly overexaggerated.
