I can't determine if this tent is free standing. Did I miss that in the description? Does anyone know?

This is intriguing - mainly because it looks fast and easy to set up/take down. Right now we have a Tarptent Cloudburst 3. CAN'T beat it for ROOM!! 2 vestibules (8sf each) and lots of headroom. Luxury for 2 ppl. But......with their pole-in-sleeve design, it is a pain to set up and take down; esp when wet (and, that seems to be every day! lol) Still, same price (new) as this is on "drop", so not sure its worth the exchange...esp for only dropping 2 oz. :(

Thanks to stepbystep for posting the link to the sectionhiker review; I'll give this a miss. The BA Fly Creek UL1 HV looks much better to me.

Here's a good review of the Ghost 2 where you can see the rear of the fly. Once I saw that in person last year on the 1 and 2 that was a real deal killer (and a surprise really). I assume it's the same on the 3 but can't find anything showing a good angle. http://sectionhiker.com/mountain-hardwear-ghost-ul-2-tent-review/

BlakeMorrowI own the ba hv ul3 and it is a fantastic tent. Its a freestanding backpacking 3 person tent that can actually fit 3 people and a trail weight of 3.5 pounds... and also easy to set up, light while remaining durable.
While a better comparison would be to the ba fly Creek line; if you're willing to accept the somewhat heavier weight of the hv ul3 it is a much better buy for most applications.

I'm thrilled to begin working with Mountain Hardwear on their lightest line of tents. The Ghost UL are pretty amazing - free standing, mostly double-wall, and super light. They share a likeness with several Big Agnes tents, and similarly are a bit skimpy in floorspace. If you want to save weight, this is a great tent. But if you want to save weight but have a bit more elbow room, then I suggest moving up in size. For example, if you're looking for a light yet roomy 2-person tent, consider the 3-person version. If you really like your camping partner and weight is paramount, stick with the 2-person.
