Curious to see what people think about this one from MSI. There are cheaper Freesync monitors out there. I just ordered this one yesterday (which shows up in 2 days) for $190: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07D377Q6D/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00__o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 ...so I have no idea if it's really any good or not, but for something with G-Sync and Adaptivesync combined, I'm hoping it's all that I really need/want. I'm guessing the MSI probably looks better, but who knows.

psicloneWhile AOC makes really good monitors (my current is a 21:9 29" AOC), you're comparing a 25" TN monitor (your AOC) to a 27"/32" Curved VA monitor (this drop). Not really comparing apples to apples at all. Hardly surprising that the smaller monitor with older tech/lesser image quality is going to be cheaper.

CJ27I wasn't comparing anything. I said I was curious as to what they thought about this monitor and stated what I got. But here is a comparison: You can say it's lesser quality, but according to some of the specs, that's not entirely true. Of course, that's just specs...would be better to see them in action side by side if you wanted to really compare. VA is supposed to be brighter than TN, but if the specs in both cases are correct, that's not the case here. VA is suppose to have better color reproduction, and I'm betting the MSI wins that one. Both of these monitors advertise 1ms response. With better brightness and the ability to use both Freesync and G-Sync at a cheaper price and faster delivery, isn't that better?

psicloneEh? I mean, better is really going to be a judgement call on this one, especially if someone looks at the higher resolutions on the MSIs. I'm not saying the AOC is a bad monitor (again, I use their stuff and like it for what it is), but there is a noticeable difference in the picture quality and color accuracy between the two types of panels. Also, with the larger ones, there's a definite upshot to getting the curved one (especially at the 32 size; the 27 is a little less deinitive) because of the eyestrain issue when you're as close to a monitor as you are on a desktop monitor like this. There's also a question of the use case, etc. If I'm just gaming, then I'm not so worried about the color thing, but the responsiveness is extremely important. If you're doing graphic work on top of it (full disclosure, I do animation work freelance), then there's going to be a need for something a bit better than your average TN panel's output. Then there's a question as to whether you prefer to larger real estate of the 27/32 of the 24, and whether or not QHD is going to be better for you than 1080. Given my work, I need to take these things into account; if this is primarily a gaming panel with some light work/email/web/etc, it may not matter as much as the cost. I think "better" is a relative term here, which is why I mentioned comparing the two. If the AOC scratches the itch you have, by all means get it; they make good stuff, and I've never had a problem with the monitors I've bought from them. I just wish they did a less expensive curved at a larger size, but I've yet to find one from them.

CJ27Funny thing. Got the AOC in today, but I hate it. I got it a bit less washed out after settings adjustment, but as expected, the viewing angles sucked. I didn't mind that so much, but even though it did do G-Sync and Freesync at 144Hz, it was laggy and not very good. I'm returning it and getting something else. I have an AOC that is 27", 1080p IPS and it looks amazing (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01BMB3ANE/ref=oh_aui_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1). I'll likely just get another one of those. Would I say it's more color accurate than others, no...but it's bright, colorful and does the job well enough. This high refresh tech needs to mature more.

psicloneMakes sense, and that probably nails it. The AOCs I have/had have all been IPS panels as well, and honestly, I'm not a pro gamer so the difference between a 1 and 5 ms response time doesn't really even register with me. Not sure it would if I was a pro. :) Sorry that one didn't work out, but nothing ventured, nothing gained, I guess.

CJ27Yep...confirms my first instinct (which I ignored) to go with an IPS. I would prefer one that has IPS and high refresh, but I'm not about to spend above $200 for a monitor.

psicloneI tried out the G2590FX as well. Hurt my eyes to do anything on it. I'm using a 24" MSI MAG241C that's a VA panel and it's much better. (still 144hz). It was also cheaper. I will say that it appears to have color differences compared to the Asus IPS panel I have next to it. Also have an AOC i2476VWM that's an IPS panel (which I really liked but can't find anymore). I haven't put the AOC one next to the VA panel yet as I need a desk mount to put the monitors on.

psicloneNice looking monitor too. I honestly wished you could get an IPS that was curved (can you? I don't think I've seen it before), because I really want to go 32/curved at 1440. I worry that a 32 flat would be a bit eye-strainy, and my eyes are already crappy enough. ;)

CJ27So to answer my own question, you can get 27" 16:9 curved IPS monitors, and 34" 21:9 UltraWide curved IPS monitors, but not a standard 32" 16:9. So weird. Seems extremely arbitrary.

PylinaerYou'll probably get better color accuracy from the VA, but it depends on the tech. For me, I'll pick IPS from this point forward, unless I can see the product first hand and it fits within my budget.

CJ27Yes, that's correct. I would prefer flat, 27", IPS, Freesync (G-Sync too, if possible), VESA mount, frameless, low refresh rate, great color accuracy and bright. My current 27" does all of that, except the Freesync/G-Sync, and the color accuracy could be better. It states it's 250 cd/m2, but it's very bright, so I don't see that as a very accurate spec measure. One thing I've noticed about the AOC monitors in general is that they seem to come setup as very washed out, so you have to do quite a bit of tweaking to get them looking good. Once you do, they can look amazing. If I could get these features in an LG under $200, I would prefer that.
