The MSRP of that card is $250.
We know that its price skyrocketed but thats because retailers increase the pricetag what is massdrop's excuse?
They want to help us out by just overpricing the product 150% instead of 200%? oh thanks for the favor! schmucks!

bill.d.travYou won't find these cards anywhere for $250, new or used. Used, you can get them as low as $290 or somewhere abouts on places like Craigslist, Offerup, etc,., but you're taking a chance on it being dead when you get home. On eBay, you're probably looking at around $300-$325 used (if you're lucky) and around $400 to $500 new and used. Just depends on who is buying these cards. Some people on eBay are spending too much. The bitcoin "mining" community is what is driving the price of these cards up, It's ridiculous.

bill.d.travMsrp of both these cards are over $100 more than $250.... look at www.nvidia.com for official msrp ***edit*** 1060 6gb is $350 1070 8gb is $450 ***end***, and these are a better version of the original cards, and moDels made by asus msi etc usaully run $25-$75 more than the original card.... so your inflation values there are a little off

AveryWilcoxsonThe MSRP of the FOUNDER'S EDITION may have been 350 for the 1060 6gb. That means that the board partner's cards were less than that, unless they were Overclocking cards or the like. Besides, your numbers are wrong. The prices are 400 and 300 on nvidia's website. Back when I bought my 1060 6 gig, I bought it for around 300. It's a overclocked strix variant.

Platokratesthats the price for the 3gb 1060 not 6gb and 4gb 1070 not 8gb, those prices are higher, and that’s what I used, because that’s what this drop was for not the 3gb & 4gb.... partner cards are always MORE not less as well

Idolno1That's totally irrelevant Idolno1... I just mentioned that the prices have skyrocketed in the first place but that is because retailers (with the excuse of high demand) increase the price tag, massdrop is not a retailer it is supposed to be the middle man that arranges group orders DIRECTLY from the manufacturer and thus having an even CHEAPER pricetag than MSRP (at least that's in theory since I noticed massdrop ripping people off multiple times exactly because people think they gonna do that but in actuality -like in this case- they dont )
So massdrops buys this cards at lower than $250 (since that is the MSRP aka price WITH retail profit factored in) directly from the manufacturer and sells them lower than the OTHER RETAILERS do because it probably found a legal loophole to not pay tax or something like that like other retailers do but having THE SAME PROFIT as the rest of the retailers which is uncalled for since its double those cards worth both as in MSRP and as in actual performance in games...

bill.d.travUh, with "everything", high demand always raises the prices on anything. The price for a new MSI GTX 1060 6GB at $379 is not a bad price considering the currently market for these cards. Like I said, a used GTX 1060 3GB is going for around $300 used, so $79 more for double the memory and "new", is not a bad price. Hey, I wish I can get these cards for MSRP ($250) that'll be great, but unfortunately that is not reality now is it?

Idolno1Think before you talk!! RETAILERS raise the price not MANUFACTURERS. That means that if for example newegg sells a MSI GTX 1060 6GB for $500 it still bought it from MSI inc. at ~$200. Manufacturers claim that they have not raised the price they just keep the same production (and because the demand raised retailers reaise their pricetag)

Massdrop is supposed to arrange an order directly from MSI inc. So it supposed to get those cards @ about $200 a piece so its just ripping you off given the opportunity of the situation.

bill.d.trav"Retailers" only raise the price because people like you and me "buy" at that price. When the items doesn't sell, then the price drops. You think you paid MSRP for that car you're driving, not even close. The price of a car to make is about 1/2 its actual price to make. If you have enough cash to buy directly from the manufacturer at around 10k pieces, feel free. Maybe then you'll get your $100 discount, until then just stfu! It's a decent price, if you don't like it, don't buy it! The fact of the matter is, you won't find these cards for under $300 used on eBay, so what the fuck are you talking about? Brand new, around $500, so you tell me what is the better price?

Idolno1Yes cars are sold at MSRP (atleast when you buy it from a car sales man new ). Some cars maybe more expensive than what they cost (that is more of an issue when we are talking about the upper spectrum of cars and or interior luxury extras) but they are still at MSRP since its the MANUFACTURER that decides the price on cars (e.g vw) not the retailer.. the retailer only has a fixed cut (since car industry works more like a cartel you picked the worse example here just because you thought it suited your argument but although peculiar it still doesnt work) Anyway back to the topic the price on graphics cards rose this PARTICULAR year artificially, retailers claim its because of miners (and it is true that miners buy many cards ) but its mostly an excuse/scapegoat for them to make more money since there are obvius solutions to raised demand (most simple of them is raising production) but thats a big story and irrelevant to the subject go to a computer forum to discuss about that.
What matters in this particular discussion is that mass drop buys the 1060s at about $200 from MSI and sells them to you at $400 (or whatever the pricetag of this drop was I cant remember) and that may not be theft legally (since people -ill/misinformed people or people that do not know better -accept to do purchase those items) but from an ethical site its a scam because massdrop is NOT a retailer it is SUPPOSED to arrange.... mass drops...
Its single point of existence is that it is supposed to CIRCUMVENT the retail market buy arranging a group order directly from the manufacturer and thus achieving a price LOWER than MSRP.
That's what it advertises it does and that's what people think it does. yet here it obviously does not it just exploits the fact that those cards have had a 200% increase in their retail price and sells them just a little under that while still pocketing a large amount of the price-tag it offers to you (like more than half the money its asks for the card is massdrop's profit)
