CGCCMainly the 1060 3GB card being a gimped version of a true 1060. So you're getting lesser performance than a comparably priced laptop with better specs.

GoatTeamHave a link to something with preferable specs? I'm looking for a gaming laptop, and this seems pretty solid for the price.

GoatTeam15"-ish would be ideal. It's for my fiancee and she's a gamer, but she's also quite tiny, so carting around a 17" laptop probably isn't going to be her thing. I've been looking at Asus, Lenovo, Dell and MSI.

hlesterThat does look like a much better deal! I'll put that on my short list, and thanks.
Is this the same machine? https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06Y4GZS9C?tag=amz-mkt-opr-us-20&ascsubtag=1ba00-01000-org00-win70-other-nomod-us000-pcomp-feature-pcomp-wm-2-wl-ask1_pfd1&ref=bit_pcomp_ask_feedback
Anyone else have any suggestions? This is going to be a second, secret wedding gift to her next month, so help a bro out!

Artif3xI also prefer the 15" size. That version looks like it has the same components where it counts, vid card and processor. It has a 256GB SSD, the 17" model has 128 GB SSD for the OS and a 1TB SSD for file storage. So if this is just being used just for gaming and light computer stuff, the 15" model looks great. If your lady has a digital photography habit or something where she needs a lot of storage capacity with maximum write speeds, a bigger HD would be something to look at. Maybe an external 1TB HD would work, or that model may even have space to add in a second drive, like a 1TB HDD internal SATA that the 17" model has. Those installs are quite easy thanks to the internet, just research that model and what expansion it has if any. Either will be a great gift...

hlesteralso, if you're looking at expansion, also see how much RAM they take and how much it would be to max out the RAM. I've seen best improvement in gaming and high end production work (graphic design, sound design) when you have an SSD and a great video card, but more RAM will never hurt either especially when you need a lot of intensive apps open at the same time.

Artif3xThe Helios line is a good bang for you buck also look into the Dell Inspiron Gaming 7567 and the new 7577 with 1060 coming soon those have some stellar build quality for the money and can be had for as little as $800 with a 1050 Ti.
