Combining the protection and durability of a tent with the weight and packability of a tarp, MSR’s Carbon Reflex tents are ideal for minimalists and backpackers who want to shed pack weight. The tent body is made of a 10d micro mesh that provides ventilation and won’t trap moisture Read More
I own this tent. You "definitely" need a ground sheet to use it in anything other than perfectly graded dirt floor. Even a minor tree root or pebble can roughen the fabric and create problems down the road. You certainly need to baby it like all ultralight gear.
It is plenty long, just short. I am 6'2 and no way can sit upright in this tent, but it is a minor annoyance unless you really want to play cards. The low height also make it very stable in the wind. All in all, I am very satisfied with the reduced weight on my shoulders.
My other tents are The North Face Assault 2 and Mountain Hardware Trango 3.
Would have 100% bought if shipping was made available to Canada. While I understand that the supplier might impose restrictions based on contractual agreements, I find it really challenging when I make a decision to purchase simply to find that shipping is restricted to the US.
KananoI bought a NatureHike tent 2 years ago. It lasted 1 year. After that it started to fail beause of the weak thread they used. Bought a Hubba Hubba NX after that. So the lesson here: spend the money the first time.
laurenttbReally? I bought a kiwi brand for much cheaper - same materials, different design and it works quite well for me. Paying heaps more doesnt necessarily guarantee quality
octavecatNot sure if the Hornet comes in 3P or not. We have a Nemo Galaxi 3P for when I go car camping or short backpacking with my boyfriend plus two dogs.
The Nemo Hornet 2P will definitely be too small for two people and dogs. I wouldn't use it with my boyfriend personally -- he's 6' and I'm 5'3". It's worth an extra pound to have more space in my opinion. But, the Hornet 2P is a FANTASTIC 1 person or 1 person + 2 dog tent. I might get MSR Hubba Hubba again for backpacking with boyfriend. (I have the 2007? Hubba Hubba and it served me very well... that thing is a tank!) Still need to research.
After having used the FreeLite 2 for the last two years, been seriously thinking about getting one of these Carbon Reflex versions to save almost an additional pound of weight. Really good pricing at the lowest price tier too!
