What PeterK from the drop really would like to say is thank you suckers! This technology is not new and was out in 2014 when I hiked the PCT. I rejected it then as it was known to clog and fail repeatedly and there were other choices that were cheaper. When I went over Forester Pass in the Sierra Nevada's it would have been useless as the hollow fiber technology that its based on is ruined by freezing. I don't think this price is good for a product that is inferior to its competition. I cant tell you the right choice for you but keep on exploring, you will find it. My advice is to try to return for any kind of refund you can get. Good luck in trying that! "Raggs" short for Raggity Man

I have used this filter on multiple trips. One thing I really like about it is you can pump water from a running source that is only 1/2 inch deep instead of having to scoop water into a dirty water container for filtering. I have only had to backflush regularly when the water source was cloudy. I used it for several days on the AT and did not have to backflush at all. Great filter!

I also have this filter. I love how small and effective it is. I echo DirkV's comment. It does need to be backflushed often. Another tip: If it seems like you are using way too much force to get the water through, there may be a bunch of trapped air in the cartridge.

I have this filter and love it. Small and light and pumps fast. Keep in mind you will need to backflush it pretty regularly but once I got the hang of that it was pretty quick and easy. Great filter!
