A high-efficiency stove system that boasts a quick boiling time, the MSR Reactor stove uses a fraction of the fuel compared to traditional stoves. Made from lightweight aluminum, the stove has a compact form factor that takes up little space in a pack Read More
I received my second MSR Reactor 1L stove system just before the weekend, didn’t open it up until just a few minutes ago since I started packing for my next 3-day trip. This 1L pot was NOT packed the same way my first one was, much more of a “hurried“ look to it, looks like it’s a returned item honestly and/or never should have passed the QC;
Large deep and very noticeable nicks/scratches/scuffs inside and a big ding you can clearly see and feel both inside and out...anyone else had this experience? How would I go about getting this replaced or refunded?

Edit is because the more I look at this 1L pot compared to the other one I have, the more gouging I noticed, here’s a picture of the clear lid...
I purchased this stove this year for a backpack hunt and it worked flawlessly for the intended purpose...boiling water. I used it to boil water to make coffee, tea, and rehydrate dehydrated meals. It does it's intended purpose well, if you are trying to be a gourmet chef in the backcountry and simmer your meals and sauces this isn't for you.
DONT BUY THIS, ITS CRAP
I've owned and used this reactor stove now for over 2 years with well over 100+ hours used.
This thing has one setting (incinerate), sure it boils water in 30 seconds but if you want to use it for anything else than good luck!
It consumes a full 128g bottle of propane fuel in under 5-8 boils
The Reactor stove is domed, so you cant place anything on top of it and it comes with no accessories besides what you see on here.
top of the actual heating section is like a filtered material thats supposed the disperse the flame end up over time dislodging and crumbles. This than causes an uneven heat dispersion.
ducmanThere’s nothing wrong with these stove systems, the problem lies in your application of the system. The stoves entire purpose is boiling water. I’ve used it winter camping to melt snow and create water for dehydrated meals. A single 347 gram (that’s gross weight) canister lasted me an Entire season because I used it for it’s intended purpose, to boil water.
ducmanI'm with Zanshin here. This is an extremely good stove for its intended purpose, melting snow and boiling water in challenging expedition conditions.
You are basically complaining that a racing car is not a truck.

Any of the pots fits on the same burner base, correct? But this drop is just for the 1.0L? However, there is a campaign going for other accessories including possibly other pots? That's what I've determined through the information posted here and on the MSR site. Is this correct?
lellobeetleAll of the pots fit the same burner. In this drop, you can choose the 1.0, 1.7 or 2.5 liter set. MSR makes accessories that you can get directly through their site, as we will not have them available in this drop. @lellobeetle
@Tyler.H Any chance after this drop we might see a "pot only" drop from MSR/Cascade Designs for those that already have the system and would like to expand it for group trips? @dannymilks - "I'm ba-a-a-a-ack ;-)"
mthayr@mthayr - we missed you man! Where have you been lately?
Thanks for posting the link for the accessories poll. We won't be able to offer those, or the 'pot only' option in the foreseeable future, but I'll certainly start working on it. Thanks for the suggestions!
