freewayPhantom power is basically a switch on DACs/Preamps/Mixers/etc that provides the 48 volts of power condenser microphones need to operate at an audible sound level. This microphone will need phantom power. This microphone would be most closely compared to the Audio Technica AT2020 if you are looking for a condenser microphone (The AT2020 comes in a USB variant if you do not want to buy another piece of hardware)
I also suggest doing a little more research before purchasing sound equipment.

freewayPhantom power means the MIC needs +48volts on your soundcard. Unsure about the boom and MIC bundle, I haven't checked it out.
