Hard to justify this, the Sony WH-1000XM3 has been discontinued in favor of the XM4 and can sometimes be found for this price. From what I've been reading online, these headphones are not superior to the Sony.

swechslerI own the XM3's. Most of the on-line reviews focus on ANC & other aspects of the Sony. Very few focus on sound quality. When you do focus on sound quality the Sony's are passable at best. They're just okay. If your primary need requires the best ANC, for the Sony XM's. If sound quality is your primary objective, I can easily name at least a half dozen other BT headphones that sound better. Not I haven't heard the HP70 but I'd be willing to take a blind bet that they sound technically better than the Sony's.

MaverickAHI also own the XM3s and agree that their sound quality is just OK, especially when compared with a good set of wired phones (I own several). But I've tried a bunch of other BT headphones and none of them surpassed the Sony. Which models are in your opinion are better?

yeisonissaddishNot addressed to me, but I'm betting on the Deva and the Panda. Personally, I prefer the Sennheiser Momentum TW in ear and the Sony WF 1000xm3 in ears versus the over ear.

swechslerSonically, the Drop Panda readily surpasses the Sony XM3. Of other BT headphones that I own or have owned, the Sennheiser PXC 550 & Bang & Olufsen H7 II have better performance. Only the PXC is a direct competitor to the XM3 as it also offers ANC. Granted, the ANC is not as strong as on the Sony but the sonics are better & the ANC artifacts are lessened although the XM3 does a credible job in that respect. What the Sony's excel in are design, ANC & supplied software. Their biggest weakness is their bass, which I find to be a bit strong & ill-defined. I also feel that they have some recess in the midrange. I do really like their upper midrange & treble although sometimes I feel that a bit of grain can creep in. That's track dependent though. With all of that said, I really do get the choices that Sony made when designing them. They are commuter headphones that were designed in Japan for the Japanese transit system. I live in NYC & what I've discovered are the negative effects of sub sonic noise. It affects even ANC headphones. They offset response in the frequency extremes & especially in the bass. I think that Sony took this into account when designing these headphones. Unfortunately this means that they can suffer in comparison when used in non commuting scenarios.

Rowdy2026They absolutely do not! None of the Sony XM variations do. I refer you to: (2) Sennheiser PXC 550-ii Wireless Review - Better than Sony WH-1000XM4? - YouTube
